Hawai’i voter guide released

Tuesday, November 3 is Election Day for the Hawai’i House of Representatives and half of the state Senate. The election will be critical for determining whether Hawai’i will finally enact a legalization cannabis law in 2027. The Hawai'i Alliance for Cannabis Reform is proud to release its 2026 voter guide ahead of the party primaries on August 8, 2026.

The Hawai'i Coalition for Cannabis reform has put together a voter guide that shows the responses of candidates who answered the coalition’s survey on legalization. If you’re a registered voter, you can find your state legislative districts with the Hawaii Office of Elections. 

If you qualify to vote, but are not yet registered, you can register online, by mail, or in person by October 26 for the general election, and July 29 for the primaries. The Hawaii Office of Elections website has more information about who can register to vote and how.  

State legislative races have been so close that some have tied. Don’t miss out on this chance to determine who represents you in Honolulu. You may also wish to volunteer for or contribute to the candidates of your choice.

 Here is the question asked in the HACR candidate questionnaire: 

1) Twenty-four states have legalized cannabis for adults 21 and older. Do you support making it legal for adults 21 and older to use, possess, grow, and purchase cannabis in Hawai’i, while imposing health and safety regulations and taxes on sales?
