Attention, Idahoans: In eight days, you will decide whether your right to vote on cannabis laws gets taken from you.
HJR 4, a constitutional amendment on your ballot, would make the Legislature the ONLY body that can ever legalize cannabis in Idaho. If it passes, no citizen-led ballot initiative on cannabis, medical or otherwise, could ever reach the ballot again unless voters amend the constitution a second time.
This isn't a vote on whether to have a medical or adult-use legalization program. It is a vote on whether YOU will have the right to decide to have a say in what progress is made on cannabis in your state.
The lawmakers who put HJR 4 on the ballot (58-10 in the House, 29-6 in the Senate) have heard years of pleas from patients and veterans asking for a medical program. Their answer has been no. HJR 4 would make legislators the only people allowed to answer that question, indefinitely.
The decision on your rights is eight days away. Vote NO on this prohibitionist attempt to remove a fundamental right that has been a bedrock of the state’s constitution since 1912.
