Ariz: Protect your state’s cannabis progress this election!

2026, Arizona, election

Ariz: Protect your state’s cannabis progress this election!

To protect Arizona’s cannabis progress, we need to vote for leaders who will defend it.

Since voters legalized cannabis in 2020, Arizona has seen the real and measurable benefits of legalization. Cannabis-related arrests have plummeted 93% compared to before legalization, sparing countless Arizonans from the lasting consequences of a criminal record. At the same time, youth use has declined 60% over the past decade, showing that a regulated market can protect teens better than prohibition ever did.

Legal cannabis also allows Arizonans to have a safe, regulated option to use cannabis while paying for programs that strengthen the place they live. From the start of legal sales through 2025, adult-use cannabis taxes have generated over $1 billion in revenue for the state. That money goes directly back into Arizona’s communities, funding community colleges, law enforcement agencies, fire departments, public transportation, public health, and criminal justice programs.

But that progress isn’t guaranteed. It depends on who we elect.

Arizonans will decide on nine U.S. Representatives and every seat in the state’s Senate and House this election, and early voting has already begun. While MPP lacked the bandwidth to create a voter guide for state legislative races, we did break down Arizona’s two highest-polling candidates who will face off for the top seat in the state – Governor.

The Democratic candidate is incumbent Katie Hobbs. As a former state senator, Hobbs has co-sponsored positive medical cannabis bills. She has overall supported the state’s legal program.

The Republican candidate, Rep. Andy Biggs, is currently a U.S. congressman and a cannabis prohibitionist. Rep. Biggs voiced his disdain for adult-use cannabis laws in a January 2026 interview with Marijuana Moment.

This election, vote for candidates who will protect legal cannabis and the community investments it makes possible. Let’s keep Arizona moving forward.
