The governor has until May 21, 2026, to either sign the legislation or let it become law without her signature. It is expected she will sign the bill. 

With Virginia's new governor and lawmakers preparing to be sworn in, we’re optimistic that the Commonwealth will finally legalize adult-use sales in 2026.

The Old Dominion State voted overwhelmingly elected Abigail Spanberger (D), who supports legalizing adult-use cannabis sales.
