S.C.: Legislature convened; put medical cannabis on the agenda!

While the S.C. Compassionate Care Act did not move forward last year, a lot has changed — including the Trump administration’s move to expedite the rescheduling of cannabis. The legislature reconvened for 2026, and lawmakers need to hear (again) that medical cannabis is a priority for their constituents.

The S.C. Compassionate Care Act’s tenacious sponsor, Sen. Tom Davis, rolled up his sleeves one more time last year and sponsored S. 0053. The state motto is “While I Breathe I Hope.” As long as we are breathing, we will not only hope but work tirelessly to bring safe and regulated access to medical cannabis in the Palmetto State.

If you live in South Carolina, write your legislators to tell them you support a medical cannabis program!

A detailed summary of the legislation, which is still alive this year, can be found here. This is the same legislation that passed the Senate in previous sessions.

Veterans and other seriously ill patients have been waiting over 10 long years for the legislature to enact medical cannabis legislation.
