adult-use legalization, constitutional amendment proposal, New Hampshire

N.H. House votes to legalize cannabis! And voter referral proposed!

The New Hampshire House of Representatives voted 208-135 (over 60%) to legalize and regulate cannabis for adults 21 and older! The excellent bill — HB 186 — now heads to the House Finance Committee.

Meanwhile, several other bills have been proposed, including a proposal to refer a constitutional amendment on legalization to voters (CACR 19). Unlike traditional bills, proposed constitutional amendments do not go to the governor. Prohibitionist Governor Kelly Ayotte cannot veto them. But they need three-fifths of members to vote in favor in both the House and Senate.

If you live in New Hampshire, let your legislators know that, if the legislature won’t legalize cannabis itself, it’s time to give the people a say.

It is outrageous that the Live Free State is continuing to punish adults for relaxing with a plant that is legal in every neighboring state!
