The Flower: An Animated Look at Regulation vs. Prohibition
Artist, designer, and animator Haik Hoisington just sent along his most recent animation, and I consider it a must-watch for marijuana policy reform activists. “The Flower” does an amazing job of contrasting a society that regulates (and taxes) a flower with one that chooses the path of prohibition.

Very cool, thanks for sharing this. The animation, music, and style are all top-notch, and the message is stark and precise.
Absolutely amazing! So many people need to sit down and watch this to really get a grip on what has been done and what can be done. I’ll be passing this along to so many people. Thanks Haik Hoisington! You’re awesome!
It makes sense and simple to understand.
flood the white house with this link or just the video. i already started. if they can’t get this then i believe we’re in trouble. shit, my 4 yearold son got it. he asked ‘why did they take away that pretty flower and make it all dark there.’
Great job…. we need more! Mpp and groups a like should hire you!
WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! something even politicians can understand
Perfect! This should be made into a 30 second commercial.
It should be used as a commercial on prime time and radio and paid for by the collectives as a collective effort to promote the industry in Cali and USA
i think to cut the video down would make it less effective but i think you have a novel idea
This is awesome, and impressively done.
Can we please start showing this before movies?
This kind of short would run well there, AND you have a lot of ads being run already.
That was extremely clever. Thanks for sharing. It sends a really good message. If I may, elaborate on details so people will think twice. Like, when the smokers get busted. People could be dropping scholarships in the trash can, dad’s cant see their kids, loosing their jobs cause they test positive and the list goes on. If you just add to this one and go into detail exactly how it happpens, it will be on television soon! The best one ever!
WOW! That was GREAT! I think that piece of art is going to go places.
Brilliant. Now I have to tell everyone to watch this.

Loved it & posted to Facebook.
I can see this as a national full length ad on Cartoon Network with creator credit and Sponsorship attribution. They have been known to be flexible on format before (with long-form commercials for their programming, animated shorts, and such) because they are a network devoted to cartoons. At least a slot could be paid for to run this in California as an ad for Prop. 19.
It would take money, but I think it would be very effective. My 4 yr. old niece could understand this video. I think it would be a worthy expense for MPP, norml, or SAFER, (or the Marc Emery fund, but it’s kind of *tied up right now. *no pun) Any weed activists need to be looking into the possibility of making this stuff happen.
The creator of this piece should be quite proud of it. It is phenomenal!
Are those little fuckin TOWELS? This is amazing, somehow, somebody has to make this happen to the world of TV.
“A Weed is Only a Flower Out of Place”
I credit hearing this from Willam (Bill) Kistler while attending The American Floral Art School on S. Wabash Ave. Chicago USA in 1979. He spoke of his early exploration of native plants with great respect. A white Phalaenopsis Orchid is named for him, the Kistler Orchid. A History and Statement that should be noted. Thank you MPP
What you say about its company is what you say about society.
The best pro-MJ art to come along since “Coming into Los Angeles”.
Absolute great depiction. No one could argue with that!
Spot on I posted on Facebook and will tell all my friends keep the good word alive
This is awesome…it shows what I see everyday…a vicious cycle made possible by prohabition.
