From their web page:

“CNBC’s Michelle Caruso-Cabrera, Bill Griffeth, Sue Herera and Dennis Kneale take you through the heart of the business day with intelligent and lively debate on the day’s biggest stories”

Interesting. I hope they approach it thoughtfully and respectfully as well. It’s a serious issue on our side of the fence and that’s something that I hope is recognized now in the media.

The sensationalist news bits we’ve become so used to now has really tired me out (though I’m grateful for the mainstream coverage), so it would really be refreshing to finally hear a serious conversation/debate take place on television.

In other words, the whole baldwin vs. ron paul “debate” for example was an absolute joke and an insult to the people who want to talk about this seriously. I don’t wanna see MPP go in that direction. I know you guys don’t want that either.

If I have to hear the same old tired cliches for prohibition though instead of forward thinking, I’ll tear my hair out.

I hope the Government can marry federal law to state law. Change the classification of Marijuana to class 2 or class 3 already!!!!!!

This is awesome, they are actually grilling Asa on the B.S. he says, and rob kampia hasn’t even had to correct them more than once, they are just destroying him, this is so awesome and it’s not even over yet.

6 Corey { 03.20.09 at 10:58 am }

Glad to see some actual discussion in mainstream media. Asa made himself look foolish tossing around his false facts. Glad to see CNBC call him on it and focus on some of the real issues involving a possible end to a failed prohibition.

Great job again Rob!

Darn, I missed it… put it up on Youtube so I can see it :)

10 Bruce Mirken { 03.20.09 at 11:23 am }

We do try to post video of TV appearances as soon as we can. Just give us a little time to get it done!

11 Chris { 03.20.09 at 11:30 am }

Ron, I mean Rob did very well. What was the host smoking because I would like to partake! I have never had anything that made names change all by themselves.

12 Terry { 03.20.09 at 11:49 am }

Until they get the video posted up on the site you can view the segment at CNBC: http://tinyurl.com/ca9xfc

People are waking up :)

13 Lance { 03.20.09 at 12:06 pm }

Alright I just watched it. I am impressed.. Ron, er… Rob really did a great job in that debate against Asa.

Rob Kampia’s my hero!

14 MyVoteCounts { 03.20.09 at 12:10 pm }

lol looks like the whole panel seemed pro-legalization. That was a beautiful sight. Good job Rob, all u guys keep up the good work!

15 Jim Brainard { 03.20.09 at 12:15 pm }

Very nice Rob! I haven’t seen a better debate

16 Anthony { 03.20.09 at 12:23 pm }

Everyday that I visit this site I get more and more excited about reform that is surely soon to come. As a fairly recent advocate, I feel extremely lucky to have joined this cause at a time when exposure is at its peak and only growing.

Rob you have been doing a fantastic job with all this air time, as has everyone else at MPP. Keep up the great work guys, change is coming!

17 David { 03.20.09 at 12:45 pm }

Amazing piece. I’m blushing because I can hardly believe it. CNBC (and perhaps the media at large) has seen the light and the public is waking up to reality and truth. I counted 7 to 1 in favor of legalization in that debate. I haven’t seen those odds before today on national television, I’ll tell you that much. That’s the kind of progress I can believe in.

Thanks, MPP and Rob! Keep it up!

18 Rhayader { 03.20.09 at 1:27 pm }

Great job Rob. You’re the man.

19 Buffalo Bill { 03.20.09 at 1:36 pm }

awesome job ROB!

20 Christian Conservative { 03.20.09 at 1:37 pm }

As a nation, we have the choice between either spending $20,000 a year to lock up a marijuana user or collecting sales tax on the individual’s purchase of this widely used and relatively safe product.
For the grow-your-own option, we could consider a $100 per year permit for a dozen plants.
It’s time to put the criminal drug dealers out of business and let ordinary Americans grow a little marijuana in their own back yards.

21 Nick { 03.20.09 at 2:00 pm }

Good Job ROB =)

22 Ga Sunshine { 03.20.09 at 2:04 pm }

Excellent job Rob!!

23 Mark { 03.20.09 at 3:20 pm }

Really great job and very encouraging to see 7 panelists who seemed to be for legalisation. This Hutchison guy is just like that Grassley guy in Iowa – either brainwashed or content to do the brainwashing.

Not to rain on your parade though, it was a cable news program even I NEVER HEARD OF. Wake me up when it gets on NBC, CBS and ABC. That will be REAL progress.

24 Silo { 03.20.09 at 3:30 pm }

Wooooo! ive never seen a better debate about marijuana, it almost rings a tear to my eye great job Rob. Keep up the mainstream pressure. change will like a tidal wave; growing bigger with each wave untill prohibitionists levvees of lies break. im proud to be on the winning side. Yes-We-Can-nabis!

25 Ilya { 03.20.09 at 5:14 pm }

Mark, what do you mean on a REAL program? CNBC is one of the biggest news media coverage studios in the world. Im sorry if it did not feed your hunger of airing after an episode of simpsons, however people in government tend to pau great attention to the voices of CNBC and CNN.

Rob, you are my hero sir… I have never before seen Asa in such an uncomfortable position, and the next time he puts Marijuana in the same category as Meth-Amphetamine I think I will reach through my TV set and personally anhialate his jaw. He says it with such a smirk on his face because he knows until federal government lowers Marijuana to class 2 or 3 nobody can argue that point with him.

The rest of MPP, you are the voices of millions of americans… enough said – God Bless You All!

26 Tennesse Activist { 03.20.09 at 5:39 pm }

I feel like we’re all riding a wave of the majority in favor of legalization and our advocates are actually taking up for us in the media. MPP is really on top of the issue and Rob Kampia is seen as a well respected activist in the eyes of the voting public. What can I say but congrats again Rob Kampia and MPP Members who have made friends in the media. The media is actually supporting us, finally!

27 Mikey { 03.20.09 at 7:35 pm }

Wow! That went really well! Far too well to have been on national TV. Is this really happening? PLEASE keep up the excellent work guys!

ps- Another friendly request for an update at change.org…pleeese!

28 QN { 03.20.09 at 10:32 pm }

Yes! Momentum! Cheers to MPP!

Slowly, the curtain draws but there is no applause; your audience has left you Asa Hutchinson.

29 Terry { 03.20.09 at 10:37 pm }

On a “higher” note: If I see you on national TV again Rob, I might develop a man crush on ya. Outstanding job again Rob, and like Tennessee Activist mentioned above, you ARE the respected voice of the people on the issue of cannabis.

30 Michael { 03.21.09 at 1:31 am }

I could not believe how well this went, everyone on that show was completely intelligent and forming their own objective views in favor of legalization.

I think it stands at Rob 2, Asa 0

Thank everyone at MPP!

31 david L { 03.21.09 at 4:47 am }

We need to be aggressive into getting issue of legalizing marijuana to the president. We need to make things happen. We as team can get marijuana legalized! I really want this done. We need to pound the truth more than the DEA tries to pound the lies into the public. We should not accept this, this is not freedom. We are not hurting anybody! Be aggressive people. Tell others about this site. Spread the truth, preach it! We as Americans fight hard for freedom that we are not recivieving. Our Government is wrong for this and it needs to be change. We are doing good. BUT WE HAVE TO DO BETTER to get legalization of marijuana as soon as we can. For FREEDOM!

32 David { 03.21.09 at 9:01 am }

34 dirk { 03.22.09 at 1:47 pm }

well finally the press is pushing…….what I’m curious about is why we don’t have more of the medical community (the nurses society, the physicians and surgeons collage, AMA, CIM, AIM, etc) coming out as well…..i have had soooo many doctors ask ME why its not legal yet (they are tired of treating alcohol and tobacco related ails and deaths). my response was ’cause your not speaking up enough…..when do we get the medical profession to back us up on this publicly. Rob i am simply amazed at how far you have come and envious that I’m not there with you. I’m fully assuming you must have more forward plans for this….after all….its nice to see you not flinch and show emotion when these law ‘pushers’ try to blemish the facts and your hard work…..you were professional and diplomatic….and they are starting to show their colors for it….thanks again.

35 Strong { 03.22.09 at 8:53 pm }

That Flash player was the worse I’ve used, I tried to “rewind” right at the end to catch Rob’s last comments, and it already started playing ads in my face. Argh!

Anyway, who is Asa Hutchinson? Did he “hatch on us a sin?” Some would say that honor goes to others. What is his problem? Some might say he “has itch on anus.” Others might say he is a “satan hush icon” who puts himself in public view to do his masters’ bidding. Still others may say he will go from “sash unto chain” based on his comfy status now to taking the place of where he casts others.

ps. each of those is an anagram of his name.

36 Michael { 03.23.09 at 9:28 am }

Does anyone know if Barney Frank is going to be pushing his Marijuana Decriminalization Bill through the House again this Congress. It always seems as though he introduces it at the tail end of the Session which leaves no time to even make it through committee. It would be nice if he would introduce it now so that there is a full two years to get throught the various committees and a debate can move forward.

37 Jay A Giuricich { 03.25.09 at 8:10 am }

Rob,
I beleive you did a great job not only defending the use of marijuana as well as keeping your composure. The former head of the DEA had this smile on his face that one would love to wipe off. You put the racial facts on the table and I believe that once people begin to look at the reasons behind the Marijuana tax act of 1937 were to “stop crazed negros from raping white women”. I was dumbfounded when cannibus was compaired to cocaine, meth, and even disgribed as a “harder drug”. i belive we should stop calling it marijuana and give the plant back its real name of Cannibus. Is just a thought because ever since it has been known as marijuana, a negitive aspect always comes along with it. thanks

the very last comment from rob about the laws originally being a racist result was true and genius
