Support for Marijuana Legalization Growing Rapidly

There is a great article in today’s Washington Post about the momentum behind marijuana policy reform. You can read the full version on their Web site.

We need to encourage the media to produce fair and balanced coverage of this issue — something they haven’t always done but are slowly beginning to. Please share this article with your friends and family or vote for it on digg.com:

Things ARE getting better. The new president has called off the hounds on state-legal mj users. State after state is moving in the right direction. Keep speaking up where it matters. Register today to vote, and vote every chance we get!

Also, in most states, you have to be registered to vote in order to serve on a jury. A jury trial is the last best defense of freedom; never convict anyone charged under an unjust law! Google “jury nullification” if you want to read more, but…
Register
Vote
Serve on juries.
We the people really DO have the power!

Hey if you guys want to try and help out the cause some more head over to Facebook and become a fan of Chase Community Giving. They are giving out money to charities. Vote for the Marijuana Policy Project and any other groups for marijuana reform posted on there. (Leap and Students for Sensible Drug Policy are on there as well)

I’m so glad you posted this Ben! I’d read it earlier this morning and was really encouraged by how positive ( and powerful) it was (great quote from Bruce too…good point Bruce!). This just gets better and better everyday.
RE to Steve: (and all mpp members) I registered with IGive about 2 yrs ago. Depending on which website I shop (this includes car rentals and airline tickets as well as merchandise), they donate a percentage of the sale to MPP through IGive. So, to ALL MPP supporters…if you make even only a few online purchases a year…get registered!

Instead of “digg” I wrote to Karl, the reporter who wrote the story. Said: Thanks Karl for the article. What I’d like to see in the future is a through debunking of the Prohibitionists.
The Prohibs are wrong, always have been.

Good to read that three pro pot groups were mentioned in the article. Of course this is the “holiday” season and we’ll be getting recycled news so to speak.

This truly is a great time in our history – it’ll be even better in about 5 years, though. Conservative Christian (#1) had a great point – not positive nor negative, but unbiased, straight down the middle of the road media attention is needed on the issue. I was flipping through the news channels last night, and had to DVR what was playing. It was on CNBC, and it was called “Marijuana Inc.” If you can google it and somehow download the show, please do. It had perspectives from the medical side, the DEA side, and the people who sell it to recreational users. It was all California centered, but that’s okay. It also had a segment on Oaksterdam University. People always say the debates are all one-sided, with one side being looked like the answer and the other looking inane and stupid. This did not do that. Also, people always complain about there being only like about a 2 or 3 minute talking point and that’s it. Not so this time ’round. It lasted an entire hour. It was a great show, and should serve as our nation’s model when it comes to this type of debate and coverage. I applaud CNBC for this news effort.

Ya I’m registered for the Igive program as well. You can also use GoodSearch everytime you search the internet and it will donate for every search. Just enter in MPP as the charity you want to donate to. It is just as good as Google and you don’t have to do anything out of the ordinary…….just search the internet like you normally would.

If you go to LEAP’s main page

http://www.leap.cc/cms/index.php

there’s an an Amazon logo up top that says: LEAP WILL AUTOMATICALLY RECEIVE DONATIONS WHEN YOU MAKE PURCHASES (for any item) ON AMAZON THROUGH OUR SITE!

This is my choice of donation, other than sending money twice a year to MPP, LEAP, DPA, and NORML.

Has anyone read ‘Open: An Autobiography’ by Andre Agassi? It’s listed as Number 5 on Amazon.
He has admitted to doing speed while playing tennis. Wonder if this confession will hurt the progress made or give more ammo to the Prohibs.

I don’t have time to read his book, nor do I care to, just wondering if anyone else is going to read it?

i think ca will legalize next year. they are saying were facing another 21 billion dollar budget shortfall and they are raising tuition 1/3 for college. the unemployment rate is skyrocketing and cannabis is looking mighty profitable. i will put as much money as i can in public traded cannabis commodity stocks when its legal and then retire. yes!

I dont mean to be a downer on this great artice and blog, but I am really tired of hearing that Obama has done more for legalization of Medical MJ or just all out MJ. He has done nothing except take a stance that is passive. He has not signed ANYTHING into law and probably will not. MOre than likely he will use Legalization for his next campaign just to do the same thing again to this community of great people that are pot smokers, and that is LIE. He may have called off the dogs, but he still has not passed ONE bill that says anything about keeping DEA and FBI agents out of dispenseries, or any other movement. In the late 60′s and early 70′s, if I am correct, they legalized MMJ in a few states and the President at the time said that yes, it would be fine for states to have independent laws regarding MMJ and then the next President in office, NIXON, turned a 180 and RAN INTO THE WAR ON DRUGS. I am sorry, but I will not get my hopes up. I will continue what I do best, whether or not this “government” say I can. Plain and simple. And if something like that bait and switch does happen, guess Ill be moving to Mexico with ROE.

Luke #6, if you Google “The Union: The business behind getting high” I think this is an even better documentary than Marijuana, INC. and American Drug War.

I’m very frustrated everyone, I posted the following on another site. I’m tired of talking. I may just sit back and watch from now on. Its really getting old. Seemms most dont see what I do, I maybe wrong. I hope I am. Go ahead and read.

Hey folks, dont worry abit! The drug war will be over very very soon. Why you ask?

Have ya seen the news today? We have a huge economic crisis, yet our leaders still spend like its water. We have senators selling their votes (at a tune of ONE HUNDRED MILLION $ for one senator) to pass this health care bill. Thats gonna be GREAT!(sarcasm) Cap and tax will be up next. Say good bye to your paycheck. Did ya see the email story about global warming? Do you still believe ? The lies and out of control spending goes on and on….I dont think they care if we as a country go broke. Whos going to bail us out when we do? China? Oh that will be fun!! Then as the story above shows, we have a senator(Oh I’m so happy hes my senator! FFS) that thinks 14 million is JUST TOO MUCH TO PAY!! OH MY LORD! But spending several billion for the drug war and turtle tunnels and cages for monkeys we dont have and on and on and on… WTF! Take off the blinders people!

When this country has lost all its freedom,is completely broke and bereft of truth and honor , when all our leaders think about is money , votes and re-election..Well, we wont be able to keep schools open let alone arrest someone for cannabis.

Corruption is ruining us folks….and when it does…we only have our own lazy asses to blame.

Stop them now and we can continue this fight, or dont and the fight will be over.

Freedom for weed or…

Freedom and weed.

I choose the last one.

Good night!

Yeah, watch that “the union” it not only covers why pot should be legal but it gives examples of streets in LA county compared to streets in downtown Amsterdam, where Crack is legal. Holland streets: very clean. LA county streets: covered in empty balloons from crack storage bags. Very good documentary. I recommend it to a lot of people I talk to.

The Bill has to be approved by the House and Senate before Obama can pass it.
Obama is your President, quit crying and get over it.
His actions have made things flare up in the news. People are starting to ask what the big deal is about pot. The AMA set presedence. Even Fox News is giving pot a good light.
I voted for Obama and I’m proud of it.
I give money to MPP every month. I fully support MPP, NORML, LEAP plus many others and most of all JACK HERER.
Let us as taxpaying citizens use cannabis and grow our own supply, EVERYWHERE.

16 Chris { 11.23.09 at 7:16 pm }

Please help spread this video I made on youtube around. My reasons of why we should legalize Cannabis. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rgx5SRwZtfc

The more people stand up and speak out, the closer we will get towards tax and regulation.

Whenever I hear any MSM outlet say the words “fair and balanced” I throw up a little bit, in the back of my throat.

18 Armani { 11.24.09 at 2:20 pm }

Everything is going in a better direction now but I would be glad if you guys could bring up the point of food if the gov’t would tell us what food we could eat and anything we can take the people would have more and more alergies and there would be a lot of more deths because of all the steroids they put in our food and that should be compared to the drugs which gov’t have control of and the dgugs which are illegal, because sometimes they are even wrong about food and we should listen which drugs we could take or not

The “Berlin Wall” of cannabis Prohibition is coming down! I smell Liberty and Freedom on the horizion!

22 Luke { 11.27.09 at 2:50 am }

As I said above, this is truly a great time in our history regarding cannabis – everything else going on, not so much, but at least we have this. What I want to know is why more isn’t being done to protect our religious use of the herb. I don’t worship pot by any means – I am a devout Christian. But I believe that cannabis was created not only for medical, industrial, and recreational uses, but to also to help us get closer to Him. I believe this is the reason God made it the safest consumable substance on earth. But every time I search the net for anything related to the sacramental use of it, all I find are lost court cases, and how the RFRA was deamed unconstitutional by the US Supreme Court. Also, I have found refrences to religions that use it as a sacrament. What I am looking for is laws and government regulations regarding what I have to do to get an exemption similar to the Native American Church’s exemption for peyote. Does anyone out there have any leads?
