Reformers’ Press Conference Gets Under ONDCP’s Skin
This morning’s press conference, at which MPP and other marijuana policy reformers joined U.S. Reps. Barney Frank (D-Mass.), Barbara Lee (D-Calif.) and William Lacy Clay (D-Mo.) to call for an end to federal criminal penalties for marijuana possession, was a rousing success, as this CNN story shows.
And apparently it got under the skin of our overlords at the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy. Having not gotten much media pickup on their preemptive press release issued yesterday – filled with the usual half truths and deception they’re rightly famous for — ONDCP sent David Murray and two other staffers to the news conference to try to convince everyone that marijuana is “the greatest cause of illegal drug abuse.” That CNN seems to have ignored him can’t be a good sign for ONDCP, but Raw Story has this rather amusing take on Murray’s appearance.

The fact that this was reported prominently and honestly on CNN’s website is a story of it’s own and is quite probably the real news here. They gave the vast bulk of the article to the reformers.
Keep up the good work, MPP !
This is just bueracrats who are a little out of touch.
If people with debilitaing Health problems who can’t get relief from precription medicine get relief from Medical Hemp should be allowed to recieve the Hemp until researchers can find a cure for their exacting problem.
Also Ciggeretts and alcohol do just as much if not more damage to people who indulge in them. So who are you folks kidding (only yourselves)?
If Hemp were leagalized just imagine how much revenue it would generate, much more than the kennedy’s make off of every bottle of alcohol sold in america. Yes I am a history buff/Novice. Joe kennedy struck a seceret deal where every bottle sold with a label on the cap a precentage goes into the kennedy’s coffers. So Stop B/Sing us about the horrors of hemp something that is grown naturlly from ole` mother earth.
I hope I didn’t offend anyone inside the Beltway
