Prince Frederic von Anhalt to End Marijuana Prohibition in California?
California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger’s second term ends at the end of the year and because of his state’s term limits he will not be back, so the big question is who will replace Gov. Arnold? How about Zsa Zsa Gabor’s ninth husband, Prince Frederic von Anhalt? Yes, the 80 year old, German-born socialite turned prince (after being adopted by a Prussian princess in 1980), will reportedly announce his intention to run for governor on Monday, and that his campaign platform will likely be titled “Return the Good Life to California.” One of Prince Frederic’s plans to return California to the good life is to tax and regulate marijuana—an idea MPP certainly endorses. Whether we’ll endorse Prince Frederic for governor, well that’s a different story.

I would say MPP should most definetly endorse him. After doing a hefty vetting process to make sure if he is the type to follow through
Does this guy have any realistic chance of being a viable candidate? Who else has declared an intention to run at this point?
Humm… Hey Kurt…How bout a link that would shed some light on this guy. Is he for the republic or for a socialist agenda. Giving up freedom for weed is not a choice. I’ll take freedom over weed any day. Last thing we need is more socilists running this country. Vet him but good MPP before you endorse.
@Freedom: He seems to be a bit all over the map. On the libertarian side, in addition to the marijuana legalization, it looks like he’s in favor of opening up the Mexican border for easier commerce, and removing trade embargoes on Cuban products.
However, he’s also talking about ratcheting up sin taxes all around — liquor, cigs, soda, you name it. My guess is that he’s a typical left coast paternalist with a few intriguing libertarian-ish ideas thrown in for good measure.
80 years old? shouldn’t he be retired? lol
“I’ll take freedom over weed any day.”
This is almost, or maybe is, an oxymoron. To be free is to be able to use cannabis. To be prohibited from using cannabis is not to be free.
Kurt, Am I sensing a little snarkiness toward the wildly whimsical and wonderful political scene here in California? : )
Aaron Smith…LOL!
I’m just an old California Hippie, myself, and proud of it!
dear #3,
Down with capitalism. I do not want your so called “freedom”, ie. capitalist exploitation. I want both communism and both medical and nonmedical or s called recreational legalisation with taxation and regulation. Now that would be real freedom. Socialism and weed together forever!
Damnit what the hel are people here talking about? socialism? To hell with socialism. Im not trying to change the subject here, but it seems its kinda changed before me. This is America! I am an American, and regardless of how broke and fed-up i am with the way things are going with this country and have been since long before i was born, i would NEVER want America to be a socialist country. I wanna free the weed just as much as the next guy, but not by socialistic change. If anything we need to take things back to the constitution, and the way it was meant to be before it was perverted into what it is now. I say if people want a socialist country they can move to one. One day we will have a revolution to fix the perversions of our government, and then things will be set right for a time. A short time though im sure, and then power hungry bastards will pervert it all over again lol its the circle of life…er power.
The question is, can he pronounce “California” and not say Caleeforneeea.
He sounds perfect to me!
Great. Another social elitist with socialist slants and royal ties.
“Let them eat cake” is being replaced with “let them smoke pot.”
Don’t fall for this.
He probably won’t make it. And if it seems like he’s going to I’d be inclined to get it in writing, “I WILL legalize marijuana immediately after taking the Oath of office.”
Last I heard Meg Whitman was going to run, (past eBay head honcho), does she support Legalizing cannabis?
I’ll keep saying it, we have to go after the Federal government.
We have to demand that fair hearings surrounding prohibition commence. We have to demand that the Truth be told. They expect us to be honest, what about them?
Don’t like socialism? Maybe you should write a letter to your congressman. You could mail it for 44 cents through our socialist postal system. They would put it on one of their socialist trucks and drive it on our socialist roads protected by our socialist police and our socialist traffic lights, stop signs ect. If they were to wreck, our socialist fire crews would show up and give the socialist postal worker the socialist aid they need. If the driver was drunk and hit your daughter, you would certainly would want our socialist legal system to prosecute him to the fullest extent of our socialist system of laws. They might put the letter on a plane to be navigated through our socialist air traffic control system. If you were dumb enough to accidentally drop some white powder in before you mailed it, our socialist FBI would drive down the socialist road that you live on, finding your house by our socialist system of addresses. If this scares the crap out of you, you can flush your crap away with the socialist city water and waste systems, maintained by your socialist city maintenence workers . Like it or not you can’t get away from socialism any more that I can get away from corporate influence in my life. If you want a libertarian paradise, go to Somalia, there’s no evil socialist government there to limit your freedom. Good luck with that.
I agree that pro-capitalist libertarians and socialists need to work together to achive marijuana legalization. We cant get the job done unless we work together. But it is wrong to link capitalism with marijuana legalization. Anyone who knows me knows that I am unemployed and have worked for unions both as an advisor and as an organizer. I was always paid workers wages-never above $10.00 per hour. Being socialist does not indicate that a person is wealthy. Let uys stop using the reactionary analogy of the velvet COUNTER-revolution or the fall of the Berlin wall to marijuana legalization. Why not make the analogy of the October Revolution to marijuana legalization. The movement for genuine free, that is, marijuana legalization, not the false “freedom” of capitalist exploitation needs people of both socialist and pro-capitalist perpsectives to work together. It is just unfair to demand that one must support capitalism to support marijuana legalization. We need all the candidates for govenor, or at least as many as we can get, regardless of their perspective on other issues to support our cause. This candidacy is a start but we need much more help to achive the momentum to get Richard Lee’s tax and regulate cannabis initiative passed. If it wins Lee, at least to me will be the Lenin of cannabis, regardless of his position on other issues. Passing the initiative this November is the potential tipping point for our cause. To wait for all states to become medical marijuana states that only allow a small class of the total of all patients who should be allowed to use medical cannabis before we can hope that the legislators will allow “recreational”, ie., nonmedical legalization to occur is not sufficient. It is a fundamental injustice that in California people are divided into two classes: the medical patients who can get legal cannabis and those who must buy from the cartels if they are to smoke. It is even worse outside of California. There are three classes of people: those who have the “right” ailment and can get it, those who have an ailment that is not one of the “right” ailments and cannot smoken but need it and everyone else. The last two groups are forced to buy from cartels. In the states where there is no medical cannabis everyone buys from cartels. Realize that the reason why states pass medical cannabis laws that restrict usage to only people who have the “right” ailments realize that they have been discredited but wish to keep marijuana illegal for as many people forever. This is the reason why the pushing of medical cannabis laws which cut people who legitimnately need the medicine out just plays into our enemies hands. What we need are medical cannabis laws that are like California’sand include personal growing, dispensaries and inclusion for all people who need it. This helps us build a base on which we can then pass initiatives for Recreationa, that is, nonmedical legalization. The limited laws do not help us out too much with that. What we need is to end the unjust class difference between medical and nonmedical users and legalize marijuana for all. To do this we neeed libertarians, socialists like myself, democrats, republicans, etc. to work together and end this injustice. To say that one must support capitalism and talk about velvet counterevolutions in order to support marijuana legalization is wrong and destroys our movement. Let me have my nonelitist socialism, let the libertarians, however wrongheaded they are on that economic issue have their capitalism and let us put aside our differences and work to pass the tax and regulate cannabis initive; let us all work together to legalize the weed on a single issue platform and let us leave aside our issues regarding the capitalist-socialist question. If we do not work together we will never achieve real freedon, that is, marijuana legalization.
The post was a joke of sorts, please, let’s not turn this into a socialist or not rant.
Last time the elections were on for Governor in California there was a porn star running. There were other savory hopefuls too.
California is unique ……. . always has been.
Sorry rushing_water. You are right of course. I get it now. This guy has as much of a chance as the porn star did. He claimed to be the father of Anna Nicole Smith’s child from an affair he had with her. Neither the paternity or the affair proved true. He was just tryin to get her money. He was also found naked in his Rolls by the LA police. He claimed three girls tricked him into stripping for a photo then robbed him. I wouldn’t want to see him win even if he would legalize. We now have other options for that. But this is California, we elected Arnold so who knows.
Is this one for real or or not?
An eighty-year-old replacing Governor Arnold?
I thought it was a joke, but anyway, Mary Jane is free at last.
Bernie Madoff wrote it into our U.S. Constitution personally.
Plant your seeds and try to plant food crops also.
He is *not* 80 years old. He was born in 1945 so he must be around 65. Get your facts straight.

…so sorry, sixty-five *not* eighty!
Endorsement is a nice word.
Maybe Tiger will run LOL.
it feels like suicide to stand in the way of big pharma and the police unions who have much to lose from cannabis decriminalization or even legalization. Big pharma probably hasn’t come up with a solution to synthesize the compounds in this plant. They want to isolate and recreate these compounds, patent them, see which ones have value,. And maybe they have, which is why they would now change their position i.e. AMA . But the police unions and the prison guards. Come on. They make a freaking leaving off locking these “marijuana consumers” up you have to feel bad for these guys they might lose their job. I mean, i feel bad for them. I guess. But , many people are losing their jobs these days government is overextending its reach, and are they after or watching over our best interest? NO . Of course not. Cash is king in this world. And you know you only have to follow the money before you know how greedy people really are. When you will sell your soul to the devil to spread lies and deceit. No human being should be locked up because of this plant its just plain wrong. Especially when you look at the facts and that big pharma and every other corporate entity has a hand in keeping this product illegal.
Though it would be great, legalizing marijuana is not the most important consideration when electing a public official. I mean, if the guy is otherwise completely imcompitent, would he be the best choice for Governor?
Yes, I’m on board for legalizing and regulating marijuana. But there are too many other duties much more important for that office.
Having said that, this is the first time I’ve heard of him. So maybe he is capable. But I doubt it.
On a side note, I’m desperately hoping that Deleaware “tears down the wall” this year…
actually… legalizing marijuana is more of an important issue than a lot of people realize….. when people think about the positive effects of legalizing… they tend to focus only on the taxes from selling it…. that is just a real small bonus… think about all the things that cannabis can contribute to… some people want just hemp to be legal… but its pretty obvious our government wont legalize it simply because of marijuana…..
you get rid of marijuana prohibition….. then you also get rid of hemp (growing) prohibition….. and we will no longer be restricted to near zero thc hemp crops…… the positive effects would be staggering….. less dependence on oil… less forest removal….. less dependence on cotton…… those last 3 things, most of the jobs they create arent even american jobs…… we could create tons of new cannabis manufacturing jobs right here in america…. it will help our economy, it will help global warming, it will help with our crime rate, it will help with our health care costs, because cannabis can be used in lieu of many prescription pills…… people tend to forget that you can make many different medications out of cannabis…. ones that dont get you high…… we used to have it like that…. think of what we could create with our technology now…… that would lower our dependence on poppy fields and hence lower the funding of terrorism…..
yea… thats right…. big pharma funds terrorism…. think of the immense amount of opiates this country consumes…..
aahhhh starting to rant a bit… ill stop now

Unlike yourself, I’ve made legalization my #1 priority. I want a candidate who feels the same way I do. Once that’s out of the way, then we can talk about other stuff. I’m tired of it being ignored though.
my latest foray into YouTube activism. Hope you all will rate it.
Thanks in advance!

Mark – very interesting indeed…thanks back at ‘ya, I got a ton of information from You and YouTube activism.
Mark:
I could do without the old time religion. What’s the point of this? When my ex-wife dragged me to church, they seemed to think that marijuana was an evil second only to Satan himself.
I guess we should magically transform weed into wine with our comic-book superpowers.
Galileo lives!
Doobie :
the point is that most prohibitionists are bible thumping Christians.
great idea! get any political party that is running for Governor and get them all to tax and regulate mj, leaving voters not having to worry about who is the best candidate not just based off of what most voters want anyway. legalization.
What I said about socialism was not a joke or a sort of joke. I am serious about socialism. But cannabis legalization is more important to me than any oth issue, even socialism. The important thing however is that we get behind the tax and regulate marijuana initiiative in November; that has a real chance of changing things for the beter.
i did a little research on this dub…although freeing mary jane would be grand, this guy is a complete fuking idiot! he’s a nut case folks…endorse a better candidate ffs. standing behind this moron, would be dumb…and make us all bad. there’s got to be somoeone better out there…this is a joke!
Its great that we he some candidates who are becoming more informed lately, but this state by state prospect of regulation leaves me with a burning question…
How will the black market in other states be affected by the prevalence of a real cannabis market in the first few to regulate it? Although it is a first step towards desperately needed legislation in our country, i cant help but think our violent drug dealers in other states will be empowered with some excellent new sources of product… Thoughts? I know we cant aquire any sweeping all-at-once legislation, so how can we make this happen with the most damage-control possible?
Sweden is a socialist country and they are one of the most prohibitionist countries in the world. And the people follow the anti drug propaganda like sheep. I’ve seen a Youtube video where these Swedish straight edge morons physically assaulted a couple of medical cannabis activists during a GMM. With a big caption reading: Capitalism + drugs = genocide. That is what socialism does to you. It turns you into an unthinking sheep. SCREW SOCIALISM!!! FREEDOM!!!
watching the LA County medical marijuana debate now live on CNN.com. interesting!
Voting for the best candidate is our responsibility as free people.
I can remember a California Governor being able to change policy to protect the rights of Patients in the workplace from discrimination due to drug testing. What hurt was that after our Governor denied us this protection our Politicians in California did not try to Override it. Soon the Voting Public will take charge and change the law. Shame on our Politicians cruelty to sick people!!!
This guy is a joke and we don’t need the likes of him to prompt. Remember, this is the same delusional old fart that believes he actually put his penis inside of Anna Nicole Smith and sired a child.
Whack Job
Gary Johnson for President, 2012.
Holland is only like the richest country in the world, and they have a historical enterprise of horticulture and so what socialism or not socialism whats the difference when you and well off, it’s the same. There was a time when their stock market crashed because of tulips, but look how that industry has cornered the world market and gave financial success to that country. Pot is like the most advanced plant today, studied and developed by dutch and american renaissance persons. And of course a abundant investment in children’s public arts works projects to beautify community and public spaces would be the best. Mosaics like this would generate a renaissance culture and great public good for free, giving inspiration to the economy.
this guy will be having my vote come fall…
Frederick is a fake Prince. Many years ago, Frederick bought his title with money.
In Germany, there was an elderly woman, who was the last heir to the Kaiser.
She was destitute, because the Monarchy was abolished long ago, and the Gov’t didn’t support her.
Frederick offered a sizable sum of $$$ to have her legally adopt him to be her adult son.
She needed the $$, and he needed the fake title, so she accepted the offer.
Then Frederick started calling himself a Prince, dressing in uniforms with lots of phony medals!
He has NO Blue Blood in his veins. He is a German commoner masquerading as royalty.
Frederick says he is not an Actor like Arnold, but Frederick pretends, acts like a Prince every day of his life,
even though he knows it is a total lie and deception.
And if you repeat the same lie enough, everybody thinks it must be the truth!!
