MPP’s Rob Kampia Talks Marijuana Reform on Fox Freedom Watch
MPP executive director Rob Kampia appeared on Fox Business News’s “Freedom Watch” with Judge Andrew Napolitano this weekend to discuss the merits of ending marijuana prohibition in the United States.
Joined by John Stossel, Rob debated pundit S.E. Cupp, who claimed that marijuana policy reformers were “confused” about how to treat marijuana.
“We’re not confused,” Rob responded. “It’s pretty clear that marijuana would actually be better if it was regulated and taxed, rather than keep it in the hands of drug dealers, where it’s untaxed and unsafe. And let’s not joke around here; marijuana is clearly safer than alcohol. So if we’re going to regulate and tax alcohol in our society, we should surely do the same with marijuana.”

if you smoke 5 joints a week it is like smoking a pack of cigarettes a day???
can someone tell me what scientific study shows this because the bad thing about cigarettes is cancer and the D.E.A. funded a study in cali and they found that your are just as likely to get lung cancer if you smoke marijuana then if you didn’t smoke at all.

Well perspective its not true.
5 cannabis joints has as much carcinogens as a pack of cigarettes, however the properties of cannabis prevent those carcinogens from settling in the lungs. So no it is not the same as smoking a pack. And if you were to use a vaporizer, properly, there are no carcinogens released so it is infinitely better for your lungs.
Now on to the study you are talking about, I am not sure it was DEA funded but I do remember reading the results of it. I cant remember the url’s but I will look those up later.
What the study said was, and someone feel free to correct me if I have this wrong, if you smoke cannabis and cigarettes you are just as likely to develop cancer as if you smoke just cigarettes.
If you smoke just cannabis they were unable to determine any risk of developing cancer at all.

Furthermore she said 5 joints a week= a pack of cigarettes a day, so she is actually implying that 5 joints =35 packs of cigarettes which is way off from the truth. It is true that 5 joints can contain as many carcinogens as “a” pack of cigarettes but they aren’t absorbed into your lungs like they would be if you smoked a pack of cigarettes.
She is just being a typical prohibitionist making up a bunch of bull sh*t trying to incite fear into the audience.
Also she said “It doesn’t make you happy and mellow it makes you lazy and stupid.” Studies show that cannabis promotes the growth of new brain cells. I am not a scientist but if studies show that it promotes the growth of new brain cells then it does not make you stupid!
I would also like to point out that if you get lazy when you smoke cannabis you were probably already lazy to begin with.
When I smoke I tend to do things like clean my house, or read a book (study) and remember nearly 100% of it. If I study or read while not high I forget nearly everything after a couple hours

I just did a Google search on S.E. Cupp and found out that her book, Losing Our Religion, got very poor ratings because the people she had written about were badly misquoted, and also she will make up a lies and argue about it as truth. She didn’t even know what was written in that book. She’s a psychopath. She is expressing herself as if there is nothing wrong with lying and she would defend it all as truth by arguing about something that never happened or something that never been said.
It is strange of why she is there? She is not helping the marijuana prohibition at all. So I guess that’s good news.

It’s easy for prohibitionist to forget (ignore) that although anything you smoke will contain harmful chemicals, marijuana in it’s natural state is safer than cigarettes. Cigarette tobacco is SOAKED in many additional unnatural chemicals during processing.
If the anyone (including DEA/ Gov) wanted to argue that marijuana is just as dangerous as 100% all natural tobacco, I may not feel so insulted. (Except for the fact that certain properties of marijuana are proven to halt and in some cases, reverse cancerous growth.)

I think anyone with any common sense can tell you Marijuana is safer then alcohol we have heard this argument numerous times I would hope to hear in the near future more debates about how marijuana is safer the prohibition. As we get closer to November, the prohibitionists will roll out all kinds propoganda. None of that will count if enough just-say-yes people turn out to vote. Just do a google search for “voter registration” and your state name.
If your a college student, get this kind of info into your student newspaper; voter registration drives are a well-accepted public service on campuses.

Clearly, this woman is not an expert in any way, shape or form. She may be a hottie, but she is an ignoramous par excellance; just like the jackas% Governor of New Jersey.
As I understand it, somebody or other once analyzed the contents of marijuana smoke, found that it contained some number of times the alleged carcinogens as cigarette smoke, and made an unjustifiable leap to the conclusion that one joint is as dangerous as some number of cigarettes (the exact number seems to keep changing depending on the imagination of the speaker). But, as others have said, studies of marijuana users have never shown that marijuana DOES cause cancer.
There was a study done at the University of Massachusetts some years ago that suggested that the danger of cigarettes comes not from the tars but from a radioactive isotope of lead that is present in the fertilizers applied to tobacco plants taken up into the leaves. When tobacco is smoked, you inhale the radioactivity and that is what causes the cancer. I’ve not heard much about that study, but it’s an interesting possibility.
As far as driving while stoned: that woman seems to suffer from the delusion that drug prohibition is in fact currently keeping people from driving while stoned and from using marijuana in general. I suppose prohibitionists have to start with the axiom that prohibition is keeping people from using drugs, but I sure don’t see any evidence of it. She also apparently thinks that “legalization” means “totally unrestricted use any time, any place, which is ridiculous.
As far as “stupid and lazy,” I wonder if she thinks Michael Phelps is stupid and lazy, or Willie Nelson. Or Queen Victoria (she used cannabis to relieve menstrual cramps). Or any of the countless other eminent people who use or have used marijuana.

I am all for legalizing herb, it is one of the best medicines I have taken for all of my ailments and I have several. I am on disability and went to taking Marinol for nausea and losing weight, wish I could have been prescribed Marijuana as I know this helps and helps with all my other maladies. We need to vote, everyone of us. Find out what the bill is in your state and educate yourselves so we know HOW to vote. They tend to slide things in with other bills and sometimes we get confused. … that her best argument for canibus being illegal is that someone might use it, drive a car and hurt someone. I seem to hear this argument quite often from prohibitionists, perhaps they have a talking points memo, and laugh that they think people are stupid enough to think that making it legal makes it legal to drive under the influence. They should do some homework and admit that it is illegal to drive if your ability is significantly impaired regardless of the legality of the substance. This also counters the typical police argument that there isn’t a canibus detection method similar to a breathalizer, police had the stupid human tricks long before the breathalizer and managed to arrest people for DUI.
My final point to the legal equals smoke – drive – crash argument is that if that is a valid reason for canibus being illegal then the logical conclusion, I think, is that alcohol should be illegal, many over the counter drugs should be illegal and not getting enough sleep should be illegal.
Vaporizing should be the preferred method of use. Or eating it. This eliminates all the toxic byproducts of combustion. Prohibition has done nothing but harm society in every way imaginable. Without prohibition R&D would flourish and healthier means of use would be more widespread. Anyone who wants to use cannabis does. These laws have only corrupted our society, judicial system, law enforcement, etc.

I loved her argument that even though neither alcohol or pot or even prescription drug users should get behind the wheel, but only pot should be illegal. I didn’t have any, all I had was a beer and I drank like half of it..I wasn’t drunk, I was trying to make a point. I wish the pretty (brainwashed) lady should watch, “The Union: The Business Behind Getting High”. But she seemed like someone whose motto should be,
“I’ve made up my mind, don’t confuse me with the facts”.
In fact that seems to be the mindset of most prohibitionists…many are just digging all the money they are making by keeping pot illegal, and the rest are just mindless robots, sure that they are right, not sure why and not concerned about all the lives THEY are destroying with their ignorance and intolerance.

I’m in Canada but it seems, mostly, what is done in USA will also be done here – eventually. The end of prohibition of pot is pretty much inevitable; much as it should be. The anti-pot theorists are grabbing at straws. None of their theories can hold up against the truth about pot. IT IS A PLANT THAT CAN BE GROWN AROUND THE WORLD. It can be harvested naturally (in tune with nature, no added chemicals needed) and can supply a healthy alternative to, well ~ even alcohol! It’s being used medically, i.e. sleeping aid, pain killer. And then there is hemp. So many properties of the naturally grown plant to name them all.
To me, it’s a natural. Obvious.
Maybe too natural. It might put the Drug companies at risk. Where’s the kickback from that?? Domino effect. Whose pocket does it hurt the most? Who stands to lose the most by legalizing pot?
This is not really a game of health issues as it is politics; about the money at the high end of the pay scale. The Big Guys. Who’s got the biggest gun??
