I am a chronic pain patient on a scripted dose of 480mg of Oxycontin, which is equal to a little more than a gram of pure Heroin.I also vomit several times a day due to the opiates.I am also a diabetic.I went from 410lbs to 234lbs in 2 years of puking my brains out.My Pain Doc scripted me Marinol after trying everything from Phenergan to Zofran w/o any relief.Trouble is when your vomiting you cannot swallow a pill and its pure THC which makes me paranoid. If I use plain old pot I get relief from pain,an ability to get 3 or 4 hours of sleep and eat dinner and keep it down.I am in agony w/o marijuana. Before this(being disabled) I worked full time as Special Ed Aide and Corrections officer at world famous SingSing State Prison. So I have paid my dues. Its time all of us get togethyer and get these bills passed. The Govt cannot possibly ignore all of us.

With all those deaths attributed to alcohol, should we start arresting those that grow grapes for wine?? Of course not!!

Cannabis prohibition is discriminatory, senseless, irrational and destroying the lives of Americans and their families everyday.

We must all do our part to Re-Educate and Re-Inform the public about the truths based on fact and science, and refute the lies and propaganda that was taught to generations before.

Please support HR2835 to protect medical patients from Federal Prosecution.

We know it’s a sad situation when we have to protect ourselves from our own government, but that’s the reality of those who are presently suffering and in need.

Thank you for your support.

C#57: While it is probably near impossible to tell how often the surveillance powers granted by the Patriot Act have been used in marijuana prosecutions (on or off the books), there are other ways it has been used to target marijuana users.

Jake Mitchell, the drummer for Austin, TX-based rock band The Boxing Lesson, was arrested in 2006 for growing a small amount of marijuana. Under the Patriot Act, he was labelled a "narco-terrorist" and sentenced to 60 months in federal prison. The same provision allowed his wife to be charged for the violation of not reporting her husband's activity to federal authorities. She was sentenced to 6 months.

I'm sure this is not the only time this has happened to people who are not tied to DTO's or terrorist cells in any way.

I just wanted to tell all of you that I am donating another $10 right after I post this because I am fed up. Every time Obama askes for another donation to help one of his causes, I am now giving that money I would give to his cause to MPP.org instead.

I gave Obama $25 torward his election and he laughed in not only my face for decriminalization and legalization, but the whole community of people who believe our marijuana laws are unjust. I will not live my life in fear.

We will see who wins and I hope all you pledge to MPP.org when and where you can and make a point to our elected officials that we will not go away.

I will fight for marijuana legalization until my last breath!

FDA Panel: Maximum Dose for Tylenol, Pain Relievers Should be Reduced to Curb Deadly Overdoses

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,529578,00.html

So the FDA is now worried about Tylenol overdoses yet will stand up and say marijuana can't be a medicine even though it has never once caused a death due to overdose?

i was wondering to day how much the patriot act has influenced the arrests and persecution of americans in reguards to cannabis use and cultivation. i really wish we could find out how may people they listened to and then busted for nothing more then a few pounds of cannabis. i have a feeling the goverment has probably done that a lot.

On legalization not "being the the vocabulary of either Obama or DC Kerlikowske," I have a theory. I believe that the real difficulty in deciding what to do with drug policy is economic. How can they end the drug war, while at the same time - keep the cash flowing? The key is that marijuana and other drug prohibition has become very profitable. The problem with simple legalization is that it would turn off the tap! So they hedge, and they squirm, trying to devise strategies to reduce the cost of prohibition, while still keeping the industry alive. So they talk about regulation, taxation and drug treatment, to be administered whether needed or not. ANYTHING to keep users on the hook to do more than their share to bail out the economy and make capitalists (and their underlings) rich. There can be little doubt that simple legalization would eliminate most of the social problems associated with marijuana use, namely - prohibition itself.

The huge scale of the anti-drug establishment, so far out of proportion to any harm being produced, points up the absurdity, and the dishonesty, of the entire drug war establishment.

I can say this: "someone very close to me" has smoked pot almost every day for the last 45 years. During this time he has received 5-6 traffic tickets, and has been involved in 3-4 traffic accidents, none of which were his fault.

It is interesting to note that of those 8-10 incidents in 45 years, he was NOT stoned in a single case! What are the odds that pot is causing accidents, when a person is stoned 90% of the time while driving, yet every single case of tickets or accidents occurs while he is straight? NO ONE has ever yet demonstrated that pot has ever caused a single automobile accident.

The fact is that, in addition to causing a certain amount of intoxication, and perhaps a slightly reduced reaction time, pot also helps one to concentrate better on a routine activity like driving, and makes one more cautious and careful. The fact is that alcohol makes one reckless and aggressive, all the while wrecking one's coordination and judgment. The effects of marijuana intoxication are far less of a threat to public health or safety than alcohol ever can be.

Far from pot being a terrible curse, society would positively benefit, in terms of both public health and safety, if even some of us who like to catch a little buzz once in a while, smoked a little pot instead of inhaling martinis!
