MPP Gets “Chase-d” Out Of Fundraising Contest
A few weeks ago, we asked our supporters to vote for MPP via Facebook in a holiday fundraising challenge sponsored by Chase Bank. Days before the first round of voting closed, it seemed like MPP had garnered enough votes to place in the top 100 and win $25,000, with the chance of winning $1 million.
But as you can read in this New York Times article, it appears that Chase intentionally excluded MPP and several other groups (including Students for Sensible Drug Policy) from its list of winners, presumably because they did not want to be associated with our cause.
Chase’s PR people have not admitted to any vote tinkering, even though the vote tallies were mysteriously removed several days before the contest deadline. But it is clear that Chase was being dishonest (at best) when it told voters on Facebook, “You Decide What Matters.”
Maybe someone should remind officials at Chase that ending marijuana prohibition is now—without a doubt—a mainstream issue. So why is Chase helping to censor a much-needed national debate?

Chase what “don’t” matter should be their new slogan.
Boycott Chase.
That’s BS…Chase sucks!
It was all just a PR stunt, so they can brag about it on their future commercials on how much they care. I’ve wonder if the “Drug Free American Foundation” is being Chase-d out?
Chase isn’t getting my business anytime soon.
Chase is a dishonest corp. all ways has been and all ways will be, JP Morgan was one of the founding members of the Federal Reserve Bank and who owned the bank that turned into Chase!
The Federal Reserve ie the ones who did nothing to help much less save the economy during the great depression, and nothing to stop the onset of the latest one.
The Federal Reserve Bank is NOT federally owned nor controlled by the US Government!
Do you think JP Morgan made money buying up the poor Americans Assets while he owned part of and help run the Federal Reserve Bank? You BET he did!
If one was to look into the founders of Chase MPP would never had even tried to win that little bit of money Chase is offering, ie so people don’t look into how they originated nor how the Morgan Family is still out there fleecing American and now World Wide.
Mike Meno I think there is a story on this issue to be written, whether it is for MPP or not. You can email me for some links to get you started if you wish Mike.
The American Populace knows nothing about the problem I outlined above, and really needs too.
I s anyone really surprised…
Who exactly is this Chase person or company? I could google the name Chase but you can imagine how many hits i’d get not knowing which one was correct could lead me in the wrong direction. I really want to stay away from this company considering the bullshit they just pulled.
Because Chase gets money from laundering drug money……..
Good! MPP is not a charity!
Chase is a bank, they bought up Washington Mutual here in Washington State and all I’ve heard from customers of the latter is that Chase has pretty much changed customer service into a soul wrenching hellacious affair and adding charges for some of the most inane reasons known to man. I don’t bank with Chase Manhattan Bank, never have, never will after the stories I’ve heard.
haha, I knew it was too good to be true when you guys first announced the contest. No surprises there.
When I saw that MPP and Students for Sensible Drug Policy weren’t in the top 100 I immediately thought that they were intentionally taken out of the top 100…..and I was right. Figures.
Drug money kept some banks from failure. If drugs were legal they would have failed like those that did. And Hey CHASE. We will choose what matters, and it ain’t you!!!! When the war is over and we have won, chase what?
MPP is still the winner to me. What MPP does is way more important anyway.
Doesn’t Chase see that Cannabis Reform is popular in the U.S….Isn’t the U.S. their big market??? Why wouldn’t they cater to their market?? Don’t they LIKE money??? Wouldn’t they benefit if Legal Cannabis retailers/consumers used Chase banks/loans?
My evil brother is at it again. David Rockafeller is the Chairman of the Board of the world. King of the world ma!
I never believed for a second that Chase would give money to SSDP or MPP. That’s why I didn’t bother to re-activate my facebook page just to vote for you guys. Of course, I DO give money to MPP and SSDP, so who needs Chase anyway?
I believe that Chase made such massive profits during the failing economy they had to give some money to charity so as to look slightly less like monsters. They clearly picked beforehand who the money would go to. The whole voting thing was an obvious farce, and MPP and SSDP are better off without chase’s dirty money IMO.
Chase receives millions from marijuana being illegal by laundering the money. No wonder they don’t want to support you.
For those of you that dont know….
The federal reserve is a coporation owned by international bamkers, its not part of the US government. Banks and bankers are not to be trusted , just look at the bailouts, how many big payouts where funded by them?
Ron Paul has a bill in congress right now to audit the fed , many powerful people(here in the US and in other countries) have fought this bill. They dont want the American people to know what they have done they dont want then average American to realize that these international bankers are the cause of all the recessions in the past and the recent economy collapse.
The fed and these international bankers have robbed all of us and are continuing to do so.
If you think its I’m full of shit…go to google and type in “end the federal reserve”.
The truth is out there…look for it. You wont see it on MSM.
http://www.endfinancialfraud.org/
Heres one(one of many, I just picked this one randomly) site that shows what is going on with the fed, internatioal bankers. If you think Chase cares about our cause…or any cause… think again…its all about money and control.
The more people know and understand this , the sooner we Americans can reclaim our country.
Their contest, their rules I guess. It would be a damn shame if they did intentionally leave us out though. I used one of my votes for MPP.
When will these companies realize that we really mean BOYCOTT when we say it!?
These issues are important to us and if companies do not realize this, then they really dont care to have us as customers.
I have not used one product or service from the following companies…
Kelloggs, Pay Pal, Subway… and now chase. (money comes out of the bank tomorrow!)
… and if anyone has any other companies that are Anti-American Personal Freedom, then please add to list with proof of accusations and I will gladly avoid filling their pockets!
Freedom of information act will supply you with the actual information of their voting. The guys that run this org are good at this kind of thing PLEASE PURSUE THE TRUTH
I have an account with Chase Bank. But after today my money is
going into the shoe box above the refrigerator. Its probably safer there
anyway. F*** Chase!
If I had enough money to cover me credit card debt I would close my chase account… Ignorance is not a good virtue
Emory, why would you boycott Subway? They kept Michael Phelps (unlike Kellogs) and a lot of people felt they subtlety embraced those with the munchies in their next series of Phelps ads. Most companies wouldn’t dare handle the situation like Subway did. You shouldn’t boycott them.
It sucks to hear about the dishonesty. On a positive note though it is great news to hear that MPP and SSDP made it into the top 100! That shows we are a force to be reckoned with. Also good to see we got coverage in the newspaper about the dishonesty. Hopefully this will encourage more people to donate of their own accord.

Its not much of a ” Contest ” if they are ” intentionally excluded ” organizations that have already been in the contest and have votes. They might as well just decide & PICK the organization that they want to ” win ” the money and just give it to them instead of going through this big charade.
Letter to Chase Community Giving Challenge:
I wanted to take the time today to write you regarding the recent contest that your organization ran on Facebook. This contest has the slogan of “you decide what matters” which seems like a very simple idea of letting the results lie with what the people on Facebook really care about. You opened up the voting, allowing all non-profit charities to be involved, and allowed all Facebook “fans” 10 votes for the charities they favored.
Until just a few days before the results were tallied, current vote totals were accessible. I understand that this was removed to increase the excitement and encourage more votes at the end of the process. The problem that I, as well as many others, have is that the vote totals were never released for the charites involved in this contest. The voting is over so there is really no reason not to publish the final results so everyone that participated can feel as though not only did their vote count, but that the final organizations fairly earned their spot in the top 100. There have been concerns raised that these totals are not being released because there were organizations that were eliminated from the competition after garnering enough support to make it into the top 100.
The rules of the competition state that Chase has the right to exclude any “organizations otherwise not in alignment with Sponsor’s corporate social responsibility guidelines” and that the “Sponsor retains the right at its sole discretion to determine eligibility and reserves the right to disqualify any Charity for any reason whatsoever.” We do not challange the right to exclude any organization from the winner list, however since this was left to the members of Facebook under the idea that “you decide what matters” we feel as though an explaination as to this decision is deserved. We respectfully request a vote total be published detailing the top 150 vote getters from all organizations involved. For any organization that received a vote total that would have been within the Top 100 we request an explanation as to why that specific organization was excluded from the Top 100 list.
All we ask is that your company stand up to the slogan you arrived at: “YOU DECIDE WHAT MATTERS”, and expain to your Facebook “fans” what the vote totals were and why you decided to exclude the organizations that you did. If you wanted the opinion of social media users then you should use the results you receive. If you choose not to you should explain why you disqualified a particular charity. We, your Facebook “fans”, deserve the opportunity to make an informed decision about our continued support for your company.
CHASE BANK IS FOR ASSHOLES AND IF YOU BACK AT CHASE YOU ARE AN ASSHOLE TO !! chase bank is what is wrong with this whole we are chasing what matters yeah”right .. all these hipacrits want is money just like all banks they lie to you to get you to use there terrible banking system and have lie’d to you MPP and the rest of us into beleiveing in they really care about what matters they don’t give two rats ass about nothing but ripping folks off from there hard earned money … so thanks for being real MPP and a speical thanks to all you lieing foney asholes that run and help CHASE BANK ,,you should go back and barrow some money from the government so you all can spend it on some hotel suites or polishing up on your golf games you lieing fucks !!!

Geez Chase, even if the bills are printed on hemp you will still make some money!
WHAT THE F*@@#*! Ok now I’m really getting mad at these self righteous places. They are really stupid to be doing this. Don’t they realize how many of us are consumers and voters. I left a really long comment on that in their comments section on facebook. I also linked this article to all the other sites I have and belong to and added this comment All I can say is BOYCOTT CHASE if you seek change in our marijuana policies!
Guess they think they’re paypal or something!
Oh wait… they discriminate against “being associated with that type of people” also, so they’re on my list too!
BTW I’m forwarding your article with link to it to the news stations and papers in my area, and I suggest the rest of you do the same… lets see if we can get some media on this!
Don’t use Chase… never will use Chase.
I would love to help, and in that spirit I will continue to never leave my money with people who can be legally forced to give it to someone that I don’t want them to, or can steal it outright for themselves using some phoney baloney “fee schedule”. Chase included.
The business of banks is to separate you from your money. They can only do that if you let them.
According to many reports, the economy may still see another wave of bankruptcies. This is a great time to let them know where you stand. I haven’t filed yet but I do owe Chase money that they are chasing daily. Now that I know this, Why would I ever pay? I am likely to renegotiate with my other cards, but my credit will already be shot. Why even worry about chase hurting that a little more. They are going to pay to hear my beliefs on this issue.
I can’t be the only one in this position, but I’m feeling better already.
I will encourage everyone I know to boycott Chase and all of it’s subsidiaries.
canceling my account with them
changing t oa credit union… every one should
I choose to never get a credit card in the first place.
We don’t need their money if we all continue to donate. I have been low on funds this year so i have not been able to donate as much as i would like, but I signed a new business deal and will have plenty of funds next year. I will be donating every month next year.
Subject: Chase Bank Boycott
“Recently Chase Bank ran a promotion in order to advertise it’s service . Part of the promotion was to vote for your favorite causes/charities and Chase agreed to donate large sums of money to them if they were within the top 100. SSDP was 14th (Students for A Sensible Drug Policy) MPP – Marijuana Policy Project also ranked. Upon the completetion of the promotion Chase withdrew SSDP AND MPP and refused to pay them their won funds. They also refused to show the vote counts… As a result SSDP AND MPP are boycotting Chase Bank- if you feel their policies are wrong please join the boycott here – http://www.facebook.com/l/142c8;chaseboycott.com/ – give it a look over if you would please – thank you – PROTEST FOR PEACE”
That was chicken sh–.someday one of there emploees will need to have medical marijuana for there health, and will have to cry for our help.then they will know how embarrasing it will be to ask for our help.
So why is Chase helping to censor a much-needed national debate?
Because they are cowards.
Pulling my money out of the Chase bank account. Screw these clowns!
…and now I’m switching banks.
At one point the Snapple packaging contained a paragraph about how $.05 per bottle goes to fight Marijuana usage… not sure if it still says this or not.. I quit drinking it after i read thist.. and that was probably 12 years ago..
I’m a financially independent entrepreneur who has active accounts at Chase. Due to this, I am closing these accounts asap.
I craeted facebook account for that
I currently have three accounts with chase. This will change soon, and I will tell them why.
Why?
This is why: http://www.illuminati-news.com/moriah.htm
Um, I’m not trying to make this person sound stupid, but they’re wrong and must be informed of their ill-logic. The Fed is part of the Executive Branch of our US Government and is also the only entity that is responsible for paying themselves. I’m all too well aware that the Federal Reserve is currently being invested into by many rich foreigners, America is a great investment and I’d put my money into us if I had more of it. Please stop saying “End the Fed” when your unsure about simple facts, it invalidates your radical idea.
The Federal Reserve oversees our banks (well at least the ones that have the letters N.A. after the bank title) and many of these banks would try and scam us further without them. It’s overseen by a board of governors (12 of them) whom are individually appointed by the President (again, because they’re part of the Executive Branch).
I encourage those who are still unsure of the intended purpose, oversight, and fiscal responsibilities of the Federal Reserve Bank to make your way back into a Macroeconomics class soon, I teach 2 in Central Florida and I invite you to join. Thank you
Professor Beckles… learn the difference between “your” and “you’re”…
and who the hell gave you your doctorate?
I ended any business relationship with Chase several months ago. We are square, and they’re not getting any more money from me. Although this news is disappointing, its not surprising. Let the affluent feed off of each other. Pay cash. Don’t use your Chase card for med mj purchases.
Just another example of hypocrisy. A local high school band decided not to take the money offered them during a recent fund drive when it was offered by a local dispensary. Old uniforms and 2nd hand instruments were preferable. People have not got it thru their heads that it is legal in many states and that means across the board. The people that work in the industry and the cash that comes from it. If my business ever gets off the ground I will donate to those legal orgs that support me and to local orgs that need it. The only thing I can promise is that the check won’t smell like Bud. But I probably will.
Ooh Chase!! How disappointing. Even in America–we don’t always get to “decide what matters”
No bailouts for Chase. Botcot, take your money out of any bank accociated with it. Your money can talk and have more influence than anything we can say.
Professor Beckles you need to go back to school. The Federal Reserve is a private company. Owned by international bankers. It is unconstitutional. We even have to rent our own money from them. Abolish the Fed and watch the national debt disapear. Money backed by debt is the worse thing a country can do. Google “money as debt” and watch the video and find out how we ended up where we are.
Money as debt

Its a bank! Did you think they’d happily igknowledge MPP for the contest and assume fairness? NEVER gonna happen (sad too say) as long as the bank has close minded, uneducated, narrow minded, customers. They don’t care about “the cause” MPP represents, all they care about is pleasing the narrow minded clients that fatten up there pocket books. If it was based on fairness, then they would of posted MPP too the list, and let the clients make up their own mind.
