If It Looks Like a Duck…

Yesterday, we discussed on this blog how there is a definite financial incentive for law enforcement to target marijuana growers and distributors, even ones that have been following state and local law.

Earlier today, as I was sifting through news articles, I was struck by the similarity between these two events:

Five Gunmen Storm Marijuana Dispensary

SAN DIEGO – Five gunmen stormed a medical marijuana dispensary in Normal Heights Tuesday and made off with a large amount of cash and marijuana.

The owner says the gunmen threatened to kill him if he didn’t cooperate.

Pretty scary, right? The following story went like this:

Clearing Away the Pot Stores, One Raid at a Time

LOS ANGELES – As dusk settled on busy Colorado Boulevard, a squad of minivans and SUVs pulled to the curb outside a drab stucco rental that houses one of Eagle Rock’s medical marijuana dispensaries.

Plainclothes narcotics officers fanned out. One disarmed a startled security guard, another covered the door through the sights of a rifle and a third phoned the shop to announce the raid. A second guard, three employees and a dozen grim-faced customers filed out, hands in the air.

By the end of the operation, the officers had arrested the Colorado Collective’s owner and an employee and hauled away 40 pounds of marijuana and $17,000 in cash in large evidence bags.

Feel free to draw your own conclusions.

But if you need some help drawing a conclusion, consider this excerpt from an article about marijuana eradication efforts in Alabama:

The eradication effort began in 1982 and is funded through Drug Enforcement Administration grants using money seized in drug forfeitures.

Seize money with one hand and get paid with the other…

I think that maybe the Feds are doing the robbing of the Medical Cannabis Compassion Clubs, or letting the Cartels in with loads of Cocaine to do the robbing for them.

We all know the CIA is the biggest Dope smugglers in the US.

it really is telling when you can’t differentiate between the criminal actions and the government actions. sounds like another type of government that was popular in the 30′s and 40′s

The number one cash crop, above all other crops combined. They won’t let Americans (other than law enforcement) profit from the number one cash crop. Brilliant america, lets spend another trillion dollars to the lost war and have nothing to show for it. Our legacy to our children “kids you have more of your own citizens in prison than any other country, aint you proud! We spent all your money going in circles, again. We ain’t got no gross national product, just prisoners”.
Allow our own people to profit from the number one cash crop. We protect cannabis fields in Afghanistan because we don’t want to interfere with the local economy, but not in america. We don’t want our own people to be able to make money and pay taxes.

5 gunmen storm dispensary- sounds like a typical SWAT raid, sans the dog murders. Still the leos gotta be pissed they missed out on the booty (siezures).

This is called “BULLYING”!!!! Until the federal law gets changed, or until the opposite party sue the state for illegal search and seizure, nothing is going to get better.
It’s like the Federal Government suing the State of AZ over the illegal alien status.

Taking into account fact #1, ” The owner says the gunmen threatened to kill him if he didn’t cooperate.” That’s obviously over kill for this situation but who’s going to argue during the cop’s raid, no one with any intelligence. What we’re focused on now is the follow up and reprimand for such intolerable tactics used and allowed to be carried out endangering all parties to the pleasure of the ass holes in charge of this bust.

Sounded like federal mercenaries are taking control. Washington D.C. doesn’t have the balls to stop it, so I wonder if the states are going to do something about it.

Thug Addicts all.

Given the amount of documented Drug War corruption, I would not be surprised if the former group was somehow trying to create some statistics for Kevin Sabet’s fishing expedition, as reported by Mason Tvert on Dean’s 420 Drug War News report.

That would be in keeping with one of my predictions.

DRUG WAR? EVERYONE LOSES…

Seems the only ‘crime’ here, is being human.
So, why do we allow some ‘humans’ to victimize other ‘humans’?

I believe the ‘Drug War’ to be the biggest case of ‘State-Sponsored Terrorism’ perpetrated on this hemisphere, EVER.
The state actually PAYS one group to TERRORIZE another!
American Storm Troopers Murder Family Dog during "Suspected Pot Possession" Raid
ABSOLUTE, STATE-SPONSORED, PREJUDICED, ENDORSED BY RELIGIOUS FUNDAMENTALISTS, TERRORISM !

I have seriously tried to understand the differences between users and drug enforcement officials. They have much in common.

Drug users will rationalize and justify their bizarre behavior, so will drug enforcement.

Drug users will repeat their actions (using) expecting different results, so will drug enforcement (arresting users).

Drug users live in a state of denial, refusing to admit their shortcomings. So do drug enforcement officials.

When drug users are sent to treatment they are expected to learn lessons about living life successfully. One of these lessons is: When you are wrong, promptly admit it and make amends to those who have been wronged.

It is past time for drug enforcement to stop rationalizing and justifying their failed enforcement policies. These policies have failed and have done more harm than good. It is time drug enforcement admitted they have been wrong and made amends to the American people.

It is past time for “Prohibition” to end regarding marijuana. It did not work for alcohol and is not working now. Marijuana is no more addictive than coffee.

Continuing to repeat their actions, expecting different results, is evidence that drug enforcement needs an intervention. Their policies have been honed to deliver money to those involved, that is the primary motivation. These actions are not helping people.

The medical community and “Anonymous” programs are doing the real work of helping those who are addicted.

Pretending that a well-financed but failing drug policy is still the best way (after 40 yr of failure) is definitely repeating the same action and expecting different results. Rationalizing and justifying the continuation of this policy, while denying failure, is not sane. Admitting that the failed policies are wrong and making amends with the American people IS the sane thing to do. Failing (or just simply refusing) to recognize the truth of this reasoning is “living in denial”.

Please give us a drug policy that makes real sense so we can talk to our children honestly. Even children can see right through the lies and propoganda. Drug enforcement’s addiction to the money has become so self-evident that the illusion of credibility is gone.

Let us have a drug policy that addresses the medical problem and admits the wrongs perpetrated against the American people for profit.

Children learn what they live. Those who get no respect, give no respect. America’s children have lost all respect for the drug enforcement community and all the “Force” in the world will not restore it.

Sometimes, the only way to victory is through surrender. This is a Christian principle that I hope you will seriously consider with an open mind.

Another is: Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. But for the grace of God, YOU could be in the user’s shoes. Please consider.

End terrorism in America. Support a kind and loving God with genuine morality, not profane profiteering.

Shame on American law enforcement and the government that supports them.

Too bad about the dog. If so many pot growers and druggi did not have vicious pit bulls, the cops would not have had to shoot them. Pot growers and druggies have pit bulls to protect their drugs from other druggies. Sad that the guy didn’t think about what he is putting his children through. The guy had a warrant. Maybe it’s time to think about changing his life for the sake of his children. Clean and sober people don’t have to live like this any more. 20 years clean and sober has been the best years of my life. I wish him luck with his life

Funny, so many people urging us to “vote” in a booth. For a candidate who was already pre=selected by those same monied interests who have proven they have their own agendas, all of which make the majority of us poorer and less free. I advocate voting as well, but not in a booth. I despise that booth, as should anyone when it is so obviously rigged. No, with pot the vote is sown in the ground, encouraged to become fertilized and bear seeds. Let these seeds cast your vote to the extent of your belief in your right to grow it. Take your right to grow it by growing it. It does not even have to make it to harvest. Seeds planted today in planters down-town will still attract a lot of attention by the police. Over=grow them and show them how we will not tolerate their efforts to eradicate our liberties anymore. Work them to death eradicating the plants you want them to get to, cultivate more to spread the seeds for the next year. Overgrow them every day. Now that’s voting.

22 Voter's rights! { 07.11.10 at 9:32 pm }

With time congress and the administrative branch of our country will devise a fool proof system whereby voters will believe they have the right to vote but can be readily overuled when making ignorant decisions about the destiny of THE government. Medical marijuana is an issue the political opposition can be comfortable in publicly criticizing, and dismissing the choice made by these medical marijuana supportersas as either ignorance based on compassion, or stupidity in being duped by tthe dopers. I suppose maybe they are correct given the lack of outcry by the 63% of voters I would prefer to think of as intelligent, responsible voters. Perhaps your vote already doesn’t count and you understand the same?

23 Joel { 07.12.10 at 10:09 am }

Protect your family from house invasion or adopt a cop.

24 Joel { 07.12.10 at 10:16 am }

I’m kidding about adopt a cop. In the future they are most likely be assigned to your home.
Hey, times are changing, and the drug war still exist. You need to be closely watched so that no laws will be violated.

25 Joel { 07.12.10 at 11:06 am }

I’ve forgot how technology has advanced. Every citizens will be video monitored and closely watched so that no laws will be violated.
All citizens must be pure, obedient, and controlled. Everyone must look and act like everyone else according the rules provided the police.

(And we thought house invasion and children being used as informants was bad) It will get worse. No guns, no dogs, and everything that is not considered appropriate my the prohibiti0nist council will be destroyed by the police.

26 Joel { 07.12.10 at 11:08 am }

Okay I’ll stop.

27 Doobie Howser { 07.12.10 at 1:05 pm }

I think it’s well past the point of ‘we were just following orders; just doing our jobs.”

28 Joel { 07.16.10 at 9:22 am }

One more thing….there is absolutely no difference between police invasion and criminal invasion against citizens at home, businesses or anywhere else. No matter what, the citizens becomes victims.
There are no protection against unlawful search and procedures by the DEA, but the DEA are very well protected by the federal government. Marijuana is a Schedule One controlled substance and there is nothing that a United States citizens can do about it.
Nothing!!!!
President Obama doesn’t want to talk about it anymore, because he is a president that doesn’t want to get involved with the Drug War and the DEA.

There was a time in this country when there was no illegal drug use. That was not a fleeting moment, but the majority of time this country has existed. As history recalls, this country did just fine then, and will again when Bible thumping prohibitionists are no longer allowed to try and run other people’s lives. It is prohibitionists, not responsible adult drug consumers, who are violating God’s will for people to live in freedom with liberty as cited and acknowledged in the Constitution of the United States. Prohibitionists’ un-Godly, destructive, counter productive, un-Constitutional human rights violations will continue only as long as the masses continue to live like slaves, controlled by the threat of violence backed with violence. How oronic that back when there was no illegal drug use in this country, freedom and liberty were highly prized, even worth fighting for. Now most sheeple’s numb minds focus on little more than doing what they are told by their masters. I often wonder what is would be like to live in “…the land of the free, and the home of the brave.”
