Whom Do You Believe?
A quick item from our Aggressive Stupidity files. Whom would you trust more on medical issues?
The California Narcotics Officers Association, from its official training materials: “Marijuana is not a medicine. … There is no justification for using marijuana as a medicine.” [emphasis in original]
Or…
The American College of Physicians, from its position statement on medical marijuana: “Preclinical and clinical research and anecdotal reports suggest numerous potential medical uses for marijuana. … Given marijuana’s proven efficacy at treating certain symptoms and its relatively low toxicity, reclassification [out of Schedule I of the Controlled Substances Act] would reduce barriers to research and increase availability of cannabinoid drugs to patients who have failed to respond to other treatments.”

+1 The American College of Physicians, of course.
The belief system of, “What you know to be true facts about marijuana,” are important. Lies are rampant for many reason to frustrate the legal use of MJ.
When ANYONE, is allowed to keep you from using, “Marijuana,” and anything else you think is best for your own well being, physical health and mentality, it’s an automatic clash.
MARIJUANA ADVADOCATES SUPPORTING MARIJUANA ADVOCATES, that’s what it should have been since the 1930’s!!
The arrogance required for a “Narcotics Officers Association” to even state a position on a medical question is staggering.
Woderful point #3.
If some one broke into your would you call your doctor? Then why would you want a cop’s opinion on medical problems????
Narcotics cops know less than nothing about marijuana — because what they do “know” is all wrong.
I don’t solicit, and won’t accept, any input or advice on my medical problems from a narcotics officer who doesn’t know shit about marijuana.
it’s a race now. to see who will last the longest. the DEA, the anti-drug policy, and the many other anti-marijuana campaigns. i just think that when we can get more “allowance” with our science that alot of the bullshit will stop with the law!
Unfortunately, cops are getting their info from the narcotics schedule, and marijuana is scheduled ALL WRONG (as the ACP has clearly explained). Cops are enforcing laws based on false information, and people are dying as a result of their drug raids
When will people understand that Law Enforcement has a vested interest in prohibition (jobs, money and power). Law Enforcement believes that if marijuana were legalized that there would be no need for as many of them as there are. What they don’t understand is that most can be re-deployed to other areas of needed support (solve burglaries, murders, violent crimes) and the rest would need to be moved into a regulatory mission.
Its all controll, they dont care about whats right or wrong ,just what is controllable, managable, usable.
Its like our leaders and law enforcement are blind. Constantly making life more complex, more difficult.
I would much rather live in a world where people are more relaxed and kicked back than always running themselves into the ground. Always working so hard that they dont have time for thier families, always twisted up so tight ready to snap. I ask daily why we must be so enslaved to our own laws, so blind to life as it should be not as it is. PUSH,PUSH ,PUSH! PUSH ,PUSH PUSH,! Dont stop for a second, dont breath. PUSH,PUSH ,PUSH! PUSH ,PUSH PUSH TIL YOUR ARE DEAD, DEAD DEAD! For What?
Don’t forget the folks at MPP/NORML. Once it’s legalized they will be out of work too.
Darth Noble @#9:
They could be deployed to keeping us safe from our enemies.Watching our borders, watching ships and cargo that comes in.keeping tabs on terrorist camps right here in the USA. We are not the enemy, but they seem to think we are.
JD @ #11:
No ,the people at MPP & Norml wont be out of a job. We will all have to fight to keep it legal. Do you really think the prohibs will just roll over and let it stand? Besides there are so many other wrongs in the world we could fight for.
THE PLACE IS OXFORD MISSISSIPPI WHERE THE U.S. GOVERNMENT HAS A 6 ACRE MARIJUANA FARM IF THEY ARE ALLOWED TO GROW MARIJUANA THEN WHY CAN’T WE,ITS ONLY A PLANT THAT HAS BEEN USED THROUGH HISTORY OF THE EARTH,THE 1937 MARIJUANA TAX ACT IS OUT-DATED
I Agree with most everybody except #11. We’ll always need MPP/Norml, and whatever else we can conjure up. Just because we manage to get MJ legalized/decrimmed, doesn’t mean the prohibitionist will retire. Many of them are borderline psycho where MJ is concerned. You can bet your sweet ass they’ll still keep pushing to re-restrict it’s use, cultivation, distribution, etc. Just look around. Our freedoms are being usurped on a daily basis. They’d WELCOME the challenge!
Norml/MPP et al. will not cease to exist. There roles may change, but the continued defense of our rights, in this day and age, is an un-ending battle.
And in addition to what #9 noted, consider this; Which do you think a cop would rather pursue/arrest? A rapist, a murder, an armed robber? Or a stoner? Uhhh, sorry man. Didn’t realize I had the window open. (Been there, done that). Ever seen someone that has been smoking (nothing but MJ), try to assault or otherwise antagonize a cop? EASY work. My 2¢
Those who supply medical marijuana to sick people are not criminals. The collective owners in San Diego are victims of a horribly uneducated and bias community. Medical marijuana has been approved by the people of California and it should not be up to our police departments to decide otherwise. The training that a police officer testified about receiving came from the Narcotics Education Foundation of America (http://www.cnoa.org/N-09.pdf) and is possibly the only training our peace officers are receiving. This document begins, after a series of quick facts, with the statement “MARIJUANA IS NOT A MEDICINE”. The state of California has determined otherwise but the police and other zoning and enforcement agencies are choosing to ignore the rights of the people. As Don of Cali and IllegalSmile said, how much is really being wasted fighting medical marijuana even though it is LEGAL. Yesterday I witnessed three sheriff deputies sitting idly for at least an hour, one almost sleeping. Then an entire day of our taxpayer money was wasted in a courtroom by the three sheriffs, a superior court judge, a prosecuting attorney, three San Diego Police detectives (not all three all day), a clerk recorder, a clerk, and any other expenses associated with filling a courtroom with a useless case. San Diego is home to thousands of medical marijuana patients. The police claim to be no longer attacking patients but how are patients supposed to get medicine if they attack those who supply medicine. If you take the time to get to know each of these people being prosecuted, you would be sickened by the injustice being served. Each and every person I have met that is being prosecuted for owning a collective has been operating as specified by Proposition 215 and Senate Bill 420. When San Diego decided that store front dispensaries were unacceptable, the collectives changed their organizations to do as the county wished. These patients are begging for clarification. San Diego is clarifying by throwing everyone in jail that helps distribute medicine to sick patients and telling us that all collectives are illegal, unless their legal. What on earth does that mean? It is time for the medical marijuana patients in San Diego to stand together with one voice and make them stop harassing us. The Narcotics Division of the San Diego Police department does not make the laws for this great state. We do!
Hey #14 that’s Starkville, MS/ MSU
good grief…I feel like crying.
Maybe the American College of Physicians should issue a statement on how to properly apprehend suspected criminals, and tell Law enforcement that their methods are ineffective.
That’s what they’re doing right, creating their own medical opinion? Next they’ll be issuing statements that cocaine gives blacks the strength of 10 men, making them unstoppable…wait a minute.
Its the DEA who is stopping us dead in our tracks they are the ones who wont allow any testing to occur!
A favorite Drug Warrior argument is that the medicinal issue is simply a “back door” to unpunished recreational use. While that may be true for a percentage of potential patients, it’s clear that this is not the aim of medical organizations.
I just read the ACP report that Bruce linked to. There is not a single politically charged contention in the entire document. These folks are clearly not looking for a radical overhaul of our nation’s marijuana laws; they simply want an environment in which legitimate scientific research can be performed.
Of course, we’re in a culture war, so even as mild a suggestion as “let’s investigate the issue impartially” is seen as an aggressive pro-drug position.
They are also the ones holding up the rescheduling which could change the fight to our advantage!
From CNN:
“In 2005, non-medical use of painkillers contributed to more than 8,500 deaths. Overdose deaths involving prescription pain relievers increased 114 percent from 2001 to 2005, the most recent year for which nationwide data is available, according to the Office of National Drug Control Policy.”
SO… the legal prescription painkillers — approved by the FDA — kill more than 8500 people in the US each year who use these drugs recreationally?
Marijuana deaths from overdose (medical or recreational) = ZERO — EVER
Are you as confused as I am?
The California Narcotics Officers Association is a cult.
So when did The California Narcotics Officers Association get a Medical License?!?!
They should be charged with “False Impersonation of a Medical Physician”.
their ‘medical’ opinion is in their training manual.
sounds like your basic recruit brainwashing to me. it definitely needs updated.
hopefully they DO voice that same opinion in a debate with the likes of Bruce, Rob, Aaron, etc.
but they won’t. prohibitionists are getting gun shy, and their agruments are being debunked in fair debates. (sometimes the prohibitionists SHOUT 4 at a time at a single anti-prohibitionist on certain news channels).
face it, the more these idiots spout off in public, the better…
as long as we have folks like MPP exposing their lies.
i can’t wait until the next election cycle comes around, and ALL candidates will be peppered with cannabis questions!
prohibitionists have GOT to be getting tired of being slapped around with facts and science.
do they take turns getting into these news debates?
i can imagine some prohibitionist party where they all get together and drink their booze to take the edge off their pharmaceutical habit, and TALK SHOP.
(i can also imagine a couple of them sneaking behind the building for a toke).
… let’s listen in…
” dude, i gotta go up against that kampia guy tomorrow.”
“yeah, man, but at least it’s on foxx. you’ll have help. stop bogarting.”
” oh, sorry. here.” “dude, i am SO tired of this same old company line. kids this, gateway that, social costs, blah, blah, blah.”
“i know man, i’m getting my azz kicked by those MPP know-it-alls.”
“dude, none of our arguments make sense. i’m thinking about making some chit up!”
“good luck with that, man, because looking at this list of our choices, already, it’s looks like all the good lies are taken.”
“dude, when will America wise-up, so i can go get a REAL job?”
“sorry, man… wise-up to what?

Good facts =)
aww 25 you beat me too it. exactly the last time i checked it was against the law to impersonate a doctor and deciding what medications is right for patients certainly sounds like a doctors job to me not the police. they should sue those @ss holes and put
them on the defense with some good offense.
Folks, has anyone ever told you that cops, especially the DEA, are fighting to keep their jobs more active by blocking legalization of marijuana. If we and government officials allow them to comment and be active opponents, you can bet your last “J” they’ll do anything to stay employed via the huge threats originating from the use and cultivation of marijuana. Their testimonies, comments and activities ARE the law.
Are you starting to feel like you’ve lost the fight to legalize/ decriminalize marijuana yet? Never forget over 60% of Americans favor legalization of MJ. There’s a lot more MJ users who simply want the chance to vote on the issue.
Good Luck!
this has been pounded into our law enforcement for years … sure it is going to take some getting used to by all cops but… we are not trying to hurt anyone to smoke we only want true facts and not from d.e.a agents by doctors not by gun toters by medicine men …go get the drunks and leave us sick pot heads alone….
If you want to become a cop or a federal worker they ask you if you have ever once in you life tried marijuana. If yes then you are rejected as a canidate for employment. They want only those people who have never tried marijuana working for them so that they can perpetulate the lie about it. One puff and they know that you know its not as bad as they will tell you that it is and they will be questioned by their own employees which they do not want. They want the gung ho beer drinking good ole boys to go after us for something that is less harmful than what they are doing. Marijuana once tried changes your reality forever about the use of the substance in its self and knowing that people can take it or leave it rather than some of the other substances like alcohol, heroin, crack cocaine, meth, cigarettes, potato chips, snack cakes, which is hard to put down and is used time after time until it starts affecting your life and other people life around you. I know someone addicted to food and it is affecting his health and affecting others in his life to the point that others have to take care of him because he is too fat to get up off his ass and do anything to improve the quality of his life. A little crack would probably do him some good. I feel all illegal substances should be legal in their natural form called herbs. You want to do cocaine then here chew on a coca leaf like the workers do in cuba. You want to do herion then here is a poppy flower, have fun with it. Breaking it down to its essence is not our job and should be considered illegal. Marijuana does not grow out of the ground as a drug, it is a plant clasified as an herb. Gimpson weed has halucagenic effects and can be toxic when too much is injested. It grows wild all over the us and only a handfull of states has anything to say about it. People should be educated about the effects of herbs and safe and unsafe amounts, and not told you cant do that because its bad. No one learns anything from that other than experimenting with things other than marijuana thinking that since marijuana is aoo bad these other substance won’t harm them….bull. Education is the key and opening up places to educate people who want to try something. People must be taught moderation and have balance in their life rather than over doing something which will cause them harm and others around them harm. I know someone who is smoking himself to death but thats all right because its legal. I went to a family reunion recently and found that the heavy drinkers in my family are turning purple from all the sugar in alcohol that they consume that is perfectly legal. Another guy in his 40’s was walking around with oxygen strapped to his back probably due to over use of cigarettes, again perfectly legal. Perhaps if they used these substances in moderation and balanced out their lifes better they wouldn’t be in near death state right now. One of the people who was there died 2 years ago due to obesity and diabeties (addicted to food) and so did another one but not sure on the cause of his death yet. Its all a bunch af crap and the government is really not concerned with our health without someone profiting from it. Marijuana and vitiman b 17 helps prevent or kill cancer cells. Millions and billions of dollars donated to research in the wrong areas when the answer is a lot simpler and cheaper than the pharmacuticals want it to be. They are getting fat of us getting sick and eventually dieing by giving us medications just as dangerous as the disease we have brought on either by genetics or over use of something. Asprin the number 1 cause of liver disease and is overused everyday by someone unknowing of the consequences. Unreal……..things don’t have to be this way it government would butt out of our lives and let the medical professioin handle this mess they have got us into. “:(
MPP:
I see on the NH site that Gov. Lynch has vetoed the MMJ Bill. It looks as though the House and Senate are very close to being able to override his veto. IF I am correct we have until September to get a few more legislators on board in order for to override the veto.
Can you post a list of the Representatives and Senators that voted against the bill? I think that these folks need to receive a slew of letters in support for the bill (even though it was watered down to try to satisfy Gov. Lynch).
I don’t live in NH, but let’s all do what we can to help get this bill finally passed.
I say if Prohibitionists of any kind are cruel and want to keep spreading lies while striking fear into Americans to keep MJ illegal then as American patriots we must be cruel to the Prohibitionists by keeping the pressure on as well as fight for our rights. Prohibitionists do not care about facts or about the rest of us American people or even about are rights and freedom . What we need do is to put people into office who is for the people and not for the prohibitionists . I say we get some one from MPP or some one who MPP and other pro-MJ organizations support that is for the cause and get them into office as president. We are the people of this great nation and do need to continue to fight for our rights and freedom as hard as we must and for as long as we must. Let us keep up the fight and fight hard to uphold our rights as Americans fellow patriots. Lets battle and do our best on air and off air on the net and off the net to continue for what is true a right. Lets get this stupid prohibition to end. They say children are in foster care because of MJ use of the pairent which is BS I know this to be fact the reason why they are in foster care is due to all reasons such as that of abuse due from alcohol as well as sexual to that of dealing pills etc… yet they use American citizens innocent children who are in foster care as a pawn in their sick twisted war against us.. This is wrong and after watching what I did on Fox Business News where a prohibitionists used foster care as a tool pissed ,e off due to the fact that they are getting more desperate and are resorting to using the innocent as a pawn. It is unmoral in which that alone should be a crime. Lets take off the gloves fellow patriots and kick their ass in this fight…. We are strong and out number them and can make a difference together. Lets keep fighting not just for our self but that of our children and their children.. Feel free to do your part either by blogging , writing to your rep or other means such as using the web page to help out or through any and every way we can. Here once again is the url:

DarthNole #32: Anyone who lives in New Hampshire should go to http://www.mpp.org/states/new-hampshire/ to read about efforts to override the veto and how to contact your legislators.
I am very glad that we have org.s such as MPP , NORML, SSDP , LEAP etc….. that are doing what they can for the American people and their rights. Keep up the good work every one.
Where is the national news on this one? 420.com posted a video of a motorist beaten to death by a cop. Because the man did not open his mouth he was beaten in the middle of the street until he died. Can someone that knows more about computers than me please send the police cam video to the network news lines? This was posted just yesterday..
Here it is:
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/07/13/mans-neck-broken-during-a_n_230703.html
Hmm the CNOA sound very convincing…. jk
John and JD:
Did you notice that the video has been cut and spliced? Watch the time on the dash cam it jumps from 4:19.23 to 4:21.21…. what happened in that two minutes of film. The Huffington Post talked to a representative from the police department and was told “This was one of those deals where you can see it for yourself. We released it. It’s from the start to the finish.”
BUT IT’S NOT FROM START TO FINISH!!!!
DarthNole: I did not notice that … but it makes me more sick to my stomach than I already was
MPP: Are there any plans to use this unfortunate incident as a weapon against the prohibitionists?
I have a few thoughts I’d like to convey:
As I read the post on many of the blogs we see here,it is great that there are so many patriots here doing their best to speak whats in their minds and hearts. Many of us are very good a conveying those thoughts ,some of us not as good(I being one). As escentric and emotional as some of use may be at times,we all do so with good intent. You all know why you are here fighting this fight. Here is may reason.
I hate politcs, and have avoided it for years like the plague. This fight is entenched in politics. I was selfish at first in my reason for fighting this law. Then my father died of cancer. I seen first hand what these pharmacuticals did to him and have done to many millions of our loved ones. That started me on the right reason for this fight.
Then as many of you know, our economy took a big dump. I seen the hypocracy and lies of those that lead us and in many ways they are reponsible for this collapse. As I have looked for answers for both the injustice of the drug war and the loss of freedoms due to it,I realized it was also connected to the econmoic collapse. I see that its all connected to our leaders and those who keep their pockets full. Its all the lust for money and power. THIS MY FELLOW PATRIOTS WILL RUIN US ALL!! IT MUST BE STOPPED SOME HOW!!
As I stated before…I hate politics! But they(our leaders) have forced me to pay attention. They have forced all of us to pay attention.
I am here because they have forced me into this fight.
Why are all of you here?
When will I be able to smoke weed because it is my god given free will?
Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness, does that not mean anything anymore?
I’m sure that most of you have seen this already…but this needs more media attention.
http://www.drugsense.org/wodclock.htm
When I posted this, we’ve wasted $27,566,940,136….how much have we wasted by they time you read this???
Trust is absent in American politics and the Judicial system, deal with it by being active politically if you can. It’s our only hope.
The sadness of the drug war is hard to share without being angered or to stand silently while one by one, drug users loose their lives or jailed (I don’t know which is worse.) In either case senario, the only reason we haven’t taken up arms against this unjust action brought upon us by prohibitionist is that not enough of us has died. Certainly 800,000 marijuana arrest per year should be enough to make most of us demand a change in the drug laws. The only reason why more people aren’t angered over arrest and deaths in the drug war is because we don’t know each other personally in this subculture. Being secretive and hidden from public view is our biggest mistake in the legislative processes we so desperately depend on for drug reform.
Do something to contribute to the reform of drug laws. Get with the program, any program but do something to contribute and then, and just maybe we won’t dye out like the 1960’s political drug activist.

A PIG is an animal that crawls out of a mud pit to eat garbage all day. No one considers a PIG to have an IQ. The only good PIG is a dead one-cooking in a pan.
THE A.C.O.P. ACTUALLY SAID IN A WAY THAT RECLASSIFICATION MIGHT BE A GOOD IDEA???????????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THATS AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!
LEGALIZE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
THESE COPS ONLY WANT TO KEEP MONEY FROM THE BUSTS THEY PERFORM THEY ARE NOT LOOKING AFTER THE AMERICAN PUBLIC THEY ARE NOT DOCTORS THEY ARE COPS AND NOTHING MORE ….WE WILL CONTINUE TO SMOKE ONE WAY OR THE OTHER ….YOU DONT LEGALIZE POT OUR KIDS WILL WATCH AND SEE WHAT IS LEFT FOR THESE COPS WHEN THEY ARE OLD AND GRAY DONT GET PUT IN A NURSING HOME OUR KIDS WILL GET THERE REVENG …GIVE THEM WHAT THEY WANT AND THEY WILL TREAT YOU LIKE THE PERSON YOU ARE ….INSTED OF THE COP YOU ARE TRYING TO BE …. PROTECT AND SERVE WAS THE MOTO WHEN I WAS A KID …HELL I NEVER FELT SAFE AND STILL DONT …AND THE ONLY SERVICE I GOT WAS A RIDE IN A NICE CAR TO MY AWAITING GRAY BAR MOTEL ROOM WHERE I WAS OVER CHARGED AND HAD TO ROOM WITH A BUNCH OF ASSHOLES ….
It’s not really the police that are the problem; it’s us. How many of us have written our Congressperson this month? This year? How many of us have helped someone in a campaign for a political office? The civil rights movement got it right: it takes work, not just decrying the injustice, if we want to see change.
You know, there may be some legal merit to challenging this training manual. We could demand to know whom issued this medical opinion and if they do not in fact have a licence to practice medicine, we may be able to pick one of law enforcement’s top guns out of a high rise and put him in a federal prison camp.
That point aside, they should be held accountable for ignoring the will of the people. Someone in CA should file suit against each police agency and officer involved in these raids. I guarantee you if a lawyer from MPP or NORML shows up collecting badge numbers and names and investigating the chain of command…
I’ll volunteer for that job if no one has it and work cheep …
more on these raids… rather than shouting jeers and waving signs, we need to stop being knee-jerk primates and running our rudeness subroutine and our anger programs at these agents.
They understand that. What they do not understand is when an oppressed citizen confronts them with politeness and calmness.
An example: I was in Sacramento. Attending a Vo-Tech school. Exit from freeway has no traffic light. Every day traffic backs up a mile down the freeway. Every day, a second lane of traffic forms on the shoulder. It becomes a clearly visible “dirt road” on the side of the highway, has been for years. One day, cop is there, pulling people over in mass, writing dozens of “unsafe driving” tickets.
He gets to my car and I am literally furious to have been pulled over driving 3mph.
“Sir, may I see your driver’s license?”
“Certainly officer, may I ask what I’ve been stopped for?”
“You were driving on the right of way sir, that’s Unsafe Driving, and it’s a violation of (code).”
I furrowed my brow, as if in thought, I already knew what I wanted to say, but I had stopped being angry, and executed my meekness subroutine. I was not assuming a position of weakness, where I was bowing down to his authority, I was a citizen, on equal footing with him. After a moment, I looked him right in the eyes and said, “Sir, I’d like to respectfully point out that I was in 1st gear, idling, which in my vehicle is about 3mph. I was driving down a clearly established roadway, maintained by the State of California. I’m in a four wheel drive vehicle, and the ground is level. I was driving, which was until your intervention, an orderly lane of traffic. I cannot see how that is unsafe?”
My tone of voice was calm throughout, and when i concluded my statement I made sure my tone was one that was clearly asking for his reasoned opinion, not an antagonistic challenge. He was clearly frustrated by my logic and how it conflicted with his mission. “Well, son, I’m a law enforcement officer, and it is legally unsafe to do what you did. I’m writing you a ticket.” He walked off with my license. I was very nervous, but I stayed calm. I knew I was going to have to give in, but I wanted to mess with him, since he was making me late for school.
When he came back, after delivering the other 7 tickets he had gotten in his batch sting. He saved me for last. “Son, just sign there on the bottom line.” he said, very cocky and smug. He handed me my license back. I noticed how quickly I went from “sir” to “son”.
I took my time, read the ticket and then I shook my head….”I don’t want to sign this. My father taught me to read everything I sign, and I do not agree to this.” I looked over at my dad, who was going to school with me and smiled. I looked back at the officer, “What happens if I do not wish to sign this?”
“It’s not an admission of guilt. Your signature just says you agree to appear in court.”
“I don’t agree with any of this. But I asked you what will happen if I do not sign?”
“I’ll arrest you, impound your vehicle, and you’ll have to sign this ticket before they will let you leave…” He was smiling and very cocky now.
I let my eyes go wide with surprise. “You’re threatening me?”
“What! No, I’m not threatening you, that’s what happens when you don’t sign a ticket, it’s the law.”
“Well, you’ll have to excuse me, I’m new to California, but in Florida, when you tell someone you’ll hold them against their will and violate their property and take their money, that is considered threatening.” I talked calmly and very politely the whole time. They understand how to respond to aggressive, antagonistic people, they’re trained for it. They do not understand a reasoned, polite resister. He didn’t interrupt me, because I was so peaceful with my tone and manner, he was off guard. I finished with, “What I did was not unsafe. This traffic is here every day. A light needs to be installed. I believe that if you rationally examined this situation, you would realize that if you were in fact out doing public safety work, as your vehicle so boldly claims, you would have been up at the 4way stop sign, directing traffic. “I
I stopped. And he didn’t have anything to say for a moment.
He was visibly angry. His ears were reddening. “Just… sign… the… damn… ticket…” He said, visibly informing me with verbal and body language that he was fed up with me.
I signed the ticked and handed it back to him. He tore off mine and handed it to me and stormed off. He got half way back to his car and looked at the ticket. His stride slowed a moment, and then he stopped beside his car, opened the door and hurled his clipboard into the passenger seat.” He turned, locked his eyes onto mine, and did not break the stare, all the way to my truck.
“Under Duress?” he said, questioning me. I had signed my name, and beneath it I added, “Under Duress”
“Yes sir. You threatened to arrest me and take me to jail, and impound my vehicle as well as be late for school, miss a day of school …”
He cut me off, “Give me your copy of the ticket please. I’m going to write another one, and you’re not going to sign it “Under Duress” He walked off.
I didn’t think it would be wise to mess with him after that. When he came back, I signed the ticked, neither of us spoke. He got in his car and peeled off slinging gravel and dust like something off Dukes of Hazzard…
They understand shouting, angry protesters. Polite reasonable people they have no training in dealing with. You must be able to keep a level head and not panic.
#51 Samuel Taylor,
That cop must of thought he struck gold in the issue of so many tickets that day. Polite reasonable people are few in numbers. I lived in California for a long time and your story sounded all to familiar from my own experience.
Have a great day and keep smiling, makes people wonder what your up to. : )
Great Comments, especially DarthNole’s. I also agree with you Samuel Taylor, that remaining calm and collected when debating an issue is very important to getting a point across.
I may repeat what others have said but I’m not a pot user, but do believe that its ludicrous to spend so much money/resources that should be put to better use, “protecting” the public from something that isn’t any more harmful than everyday cigarettes, alcohol, or even all the death thats caused by the illicit market created when its banned. Unfortunately I think most citizens don’t stop to think about Marijuana in any other way other than a “drug” and to them, thats a no-no/bad thing. Its sad how adamant society can be about issues that they bother to educate themselves so little on.
At any rate, I am a fervent supporter of legalizing pot (not just for medical reasons). lets focus those resources where we really need them, collect some tax revenues (instead of giving it to the cartels), and quite trying to scare people into taking a side on an issue.
Peace!
If I am going to be afraid of someone it should be the cartels, not the Police. But until Marijuana is rescheduled. The Police will not enjoy any support from the general public. I never look at cops driving next to me. They are not worthy of my friendship because they are the punishers of society. I wish to GOD that one day this will change and then this will become a non issue.
