Vermont was the ninth state to allow seriously ill patients to use marijuana to treat certain illnesses, and now it may become the third to make post-traumatic stress disorder one of those qualifying illnesses. A new bill, introduced by Rep. Jim Masland, would allow patients afflicted with the serious psychological condition from war or other trauma to use medical marijuana without fear of arrest.
There are many people suffering from PTSD who have tried treating their symptoms with marijuana and have found it to be far more effective than the prescription pharmaceuticals they had been directed to use. Unfortunately, there is little scientific research to support their claims, and the federal government recently denied permission to study the potential benefits of marijuana for returning veterans.
If the law passes, Vermont will join New Mexico and Delaware as the only states to allow medical marijuana to be recommended for PTSD out of the 16 states (and the District of Columbia) that permit marijuana treatment for other conditions.
In June 2011, Vermont passed a bill that would regulate the establishment of four non-profit medical marijuana dispensaries throughout the state.

Alabama has the Alabama Medical Marijuana Patients Rights Act coming up for a vote in the coming legislative session. PTSD is one of the conditions for which a patient would be qualified for medical marijuana.
Thank GOD for the relief that the earth can give back to it’s children. Why is it so hard for people to believe that the earth is a healing phamacutical company that’s been around for a long time.
Aids patient in Texas–What about us?
Why should we treat PTSD with marijuana when we can really screw you up with our own, more expensive, addicting drugs?
I am a PTD sufferer. I was diagnosed with it many years ago. I developed it from Viet Nam. I have been a long time marijuana user, and I have always believed that I could have not survived the the PTSD without pot. The relaxing side effects allowed me to chill, and allow me to put things into perspective. Without grass, I would have sunk into a world of alcohol, and who knows, where I would be right now. Any problems I have ever had, was alcohol related. I learned my lesson about it a long time ago. I am 63 years old. I have never been a felon and have never broken the law, other than smoking medicine, nor have other friend pot smokers I hang with. I am healthy, raised three good kids, and have been a respected member of my profession, all the while smoking weed. I will never quit, legal or ill-legal, and never will those who have been helped by this medicine. So you idiot politicians against pot, listen to what is the majority of Americans, and get your shit together. At least Ron Paul has said the war on drugs will be over if he is President, as he is in favor of legalization. He believes that Americans have the right to choose. Go DR. Paul. Sheryl Henn, you got it right in your comment below. It is God’s gift to us, from the earth. Just my opinion.
I know from my own medical problems that marijuana takes place of pain meds and xanax.I don’t like to get high on pot but the way it lets me be free of pain and all the other medical problems. Why should a person be pushed on hard drugs when there is one that is natural and when eaten doesn’t even hurt anyones lungs or have to smell it.Time for the goverment to step down
