Oregon Dispensary Initiative Qualifies for November Ballot

The signature count is in, and it’s official!

In November, Oregon voters will have an opportunity to vote on a measure that would improve access for medical marijuana patients by allowing the creation of nonprofit, state-regulated medical marijuana dispensaries. The official name for the ballot question will be Measure 28.

This positive news expands the number of local elections this year that will have marijuana-related questions on the ballot. To review:

  • In California, voters will consider Proposition 19, which would make it legal for adults 21 and over to use and grow marijuana for personal use, as well as allow local governments to tax and regulate the drug.
  • In South Dakota and Arizona, voters will have a chance to add their states to the list of those with effective medical marijuana laws, potentially bringing the total number nationwide to 16 (plus the District of Columbia).
  • And in Detroit, voters will decide whether to make it legal for adults to possess up to one ounce of marijuana in the city.

Most polling so far has been very encouraging. Be sure to go out and vote if you live in one of these states. Everyone else, tune-in for the results on November 2!

  1. More than just go out and vote, tell everyone you know and especially people you don’t know, the reasons to vote in the affirmative.

If you are not comfortable talking to others about the need for this improvement of society, then print out a suitable set of reasons and just hand it to them, or put it in their mailbox, etc…

Here is one: three members of Law Enforcement Against Prohibition have signed a nice write-up explaining the need to legalize marijuana. Just copy the text, paste it in a text editor, format it nicely, print out copies.

  3. I do hope that Proposition 19 passes. It will be the biggest proof against the prohibitionist “reefer madness” in the United States.

  5. I and millions of other Europeans hope USA soon will legalize marijuana that would improve our access for medical marijuana by allowing the creation of nonprofit, state-regulated medical marijuana dispensaries and allowing adult to use it recreational.

Here in Europe, it is only Portugal who have a sensible approach to this important matter and importantly as cannabinoids are documented necessary to life, we need USA (again) to take the lead and help convince our politicians by Your wisdom in act for our – Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness to vote YES to marijuana.

As this prohibition hopefully comes to a close, we can look forward to a better culture – one with fewer invasions of privacy, fewer arrests, fewer imprisonments – and more human choices for relaxation, more affordable wellness/health care, more tax revenues, and, dare we say it – happier citizens

Here we are in 2010 still living under Nixon’s law. That is our history: our tomorrow is much different. That’s because the tide has turned – and it’s a scientific tide. The endocannabinoid system (ECS) and the science surrounding this remarkable biological modulator, have transformed the battlefield and the logic of the CSA. This is no longer a civil war: it has morphed into a war between science and ignorance.

A search of cannabinoids on Pub Med reveals a world of scientific data supporting cannabinoids as medicine. That’s because the ECS is necessary to life. This is a fact of biology and part of the truth conspiracy.

Imagine what could be achieved if signaling through these receptors could be controlled: happy, slim, and healthy people who remember that they’re pain-free.

Nixon’s law is a legacy of lies, cruelty and ignorance. – What will Obama’s legacy be?
