Mississippi Patients Deserve Access to Medical Marijuana

You may know that the University of Mississippi has been growing marijuana for the federal government’s little-known medical marijuana program, the Compassionate Investigational New Drug program, for decades. Each month, the federal authorities send four patients a tin canister filled with about 300 pre-rolled marijuana cigarettes. Unfortunately, Mississippi’s seriously ill patients are not able to access medical marijuana even with a doctor’s recommendation, and they risk arrest and prosecution if they try.

Mississippians battling cancer, MS, and other serious conditions are fortunate to have a champion in State Senator Deborah Dawkins (D-Pass Christian). Sen. Dawkins has just introduced S.B. 2252, which would make it legal for qualifying patients to possess up to three mature plants, four immature plants, and up to 30 grams of usable marijuana for each plant.

Click here to see Sen. Dawkins talk about her bill on the local ABC affiliate, WLOX 13.

It’s time Mississippi started making sure its own seriously ill patients have safe, legal access to medical marijuana — just like those four patients still benefiting from the federal government’s little-known program!

Please contact your legislator today, and urge him or her to support S.B. 2252.

We’re trying to do the same thing here in Alabama. The Bill passed out of committee last year and comes up for full debate in the legislature this year, but MPP will not even acknowledge what Alabamians are trying to do! I never see words of support for our legislation. Even after voicing my concern of this to MPP I was basically told us Alabamians were in it on our own! I just do not understand it. Good luck Mississippians!

And in Florida- we are rushing head-first backward into the Fourteenth Century. Simple possession of Marijuana/Cannabis, less than 20 grams can be a federal offense. At very least-they’ll bust your dooe down because they got “an anonymous tip from a confidential source”?-FOURTH AMENDMENT RIGHTS?….Not in the “Land of the Free”
Didn’t Ole’ Miss-and Florida get the mome that CANNABIS CURES CANCER AND IT IS A FACT.
Our government PATENTED a compound of the Cannabis plant. US PAtent # 6,630,507-ISSUED TO OUR GOVERNMENT so “they” can make medicine from cannabis addd toxic chemicals and have the FDA “Fast track” it-And you thought the government had no heart?

Paradoc – The government has known since the early 70′s that THC kills cancer cells, which is probably the main reason it is still illegal as far as the feds are concerned. Just think of what the population would be if they were to actually save people from the deaths that cancer causes (they probably consider it as population control) and all the money that would be lost by doctors by curing cancer instead of just treating it. I recently watched a friend wither and die from cancer and after each round of chemo and rads they would alwasys say “we were lucky, we got it’, then at follow up visits they would inform him it had moved elsewhere. He would have lived just as long without any treatments, and not in the misery that the treatments bring, because they said they caught it early and he still only lived 1 year after diagnosis.

By the way he used cannabis, however for 40 years he smoked cigarettes as well and if he had only smoked cannabis I believe, because of a study Iread, he would not have contracted cancer at such an early age. After diagnosis though the doctors convinced him that he shouldn’t use cannabis because it would only be bad for him. Come on docs, what was it gonna do kill him if the cancer didn’t!?
