Idiocy Refuted at Forbes.com

To their great credit, the editors at Forbes.com offered us the opportunity to respond today to last week’s absurd column by Rachel Ehrenfeld. Enjoy.

WAY TO GO!

I’m sharing this everywhere.

The main reason cannabis is still illeagal is because of the Big Pharma Cartel
They do not want people to have free medicine with very few side effects

I agree.
Bruce, you are the man.

Every news media hub is slowly learning that reefer madness will no longer be tolerted, but they each must learn on their own, many in part thanks to you.

You know Bruce this still sucks, here is why. Every time I read one of these things on some given point of the legalization debate of med or rec cannibus I just cant help but wonder why every time the whole thing about swat like cops busting into peoples homes, medi or not, killing people and family pets like its nothing and its ok…an aceptable loss in society those tuff pot snubbing cops claim….

Also no mention of allowing thousands of mexican teenagers whom live just over the border to die at the hands of prohibition driven cartels so we may protect our prissy shiny white american children? That alone should be enough, but it means nothing to the people who print shit like this…..If she knew dick about the narco war as has been claimed she would know that Mexico and the US have got the cartels on the run, but now their getting their own children to sell it to their own drug addicts, and for the US, they will just grow it on our forests, and sell it to our prissy shiny white children anyways……..I do not think she knows anything at all about all the sides of the topic she chose to attack. I know more this subject than her and IM not even a journalist…IM a fuckin realist….

End prohibition, save lives, stop the new american terrorism?

Peace Bruce, you give hope, that their will be honesty

If only Rachel would read your counter-argument…

Bruce great rebuttel
but I do belive that med pot is the long way around to whare we need to be but it is a start
Once people see that it’s not the devil weed that they expect they will come around
TAX IT.. REGULATE IT ..AND SET AGE LIMETS TO IT

Well done Bruce, now the only question is will anyone bother to read, review and comprehend the facts you’ve laid before them.

And if they do, once their beliefs are shown to have been deliberately misguided, will they DO anything about it?

Sadly, it seems easier to ignore the status quo, and doom 25 MILLION Americans to second-class citizen status, than it does for any politicians to do the right thing! Amazing how easily our politicians cast aside 10% of our population.

We are a considerably larger minority than asian-americans, and we are treated with far less respect.

Great job Bruce =)

I love that you had a chance to counter her sorry excuse for an article, but I’m curious if she’ll offer up any kind of rebuttal to your response and/or the many comments left on her piece.

Thank you.

Great job Bruce; like you said too, Forbes deserves credit for giving space for this refutation. You hit all the major points on the head.

As MPP and others have pointed out, the population is miles ahead of the politicians with pot. Just read through the user comments on virtually any story about marijuana policy from any publication. The comments in support of policy reform typically outnumber the prohibitionists by up to 10 to 1. The same types of numbers are reflected in those CNN-type “should marijuana be legalized” web polls.

Not scientific polling of course, and we can assume some readership bias because of attention called to these stories by pot-friendly outlets. Still though, public support — even if it is hovering around 50% — greatly outpaces whatever meager suggestions of reform pop up among our elected officials from time to time.

Call your representatives people, and tell them this issue is an important factor to your voting booth decisions.

I would laugh and cry and cry some more.

Bravo Bruce! If everyone in the (medical and otherwise) cannabis community could speak as eloquently as yourself, using Scientific studies and facts. We would nip this prohibition thing in the bud. (pun intended) First with the New York Times and now Forbes, it seems like we now have a huge voice that people are going to listen to. They will find out that in 2009 they will not spread lies and propaganda without a rebuttal from our huge cannabis community. For the past year every time I read an article filled with misinformation and propaganda about cannabis I begin to reply in the comment section only to find my fellow pro-cannabis Americans have already done the job for me. Thanks Bruce, and all of you who support the medical and legalization movement.

Good man Bruse,

I too agree with tree of life.
It just discusts me that people on both sides of the border think it ..ok..just ..”casualties of war”. Like its ok that people are having their lives ruined or lost becuase its ok to fight over a weed. Cannabis will ALWAYS be here and the people will ALWAYS use it and the war on cannabis and the people who choose to use it will NEVER end, thrfore people will ALWAYS be dying over this plant and a NEVER ENDING war. WHeres the exit stratagy here? do our leaders even have one or care to come up with one? Its sad lives have so little value to our leaders.

This brings me to the next point. They claim they are trying to save peole from this “devil weed”. How and when? How many have to die before they start SAVING lives.

Ok,,.. nice job Bruce.

Excellent and thank you Bruce.

Did like this too by Tree “prissy shiny white children”, because it’s true.

We ain’t gonna stand for no yella journalism.

Thanks for helping to balance things over at Forbes, Bruce. Great information. Sort of stuff we should be reading every day in the MSMedia.

And while I think it’s progress that Forbes allowed you to respond, it still makes me livid that they stopped the comments at 12-comments…And I was going to throw even more facts out there…still great progress, though.

Thanks for helping the major media catch up to the public on the facts regarding medical cannabis; they are lagging so far behind (they’re almost as far back as some of our elected officials).

Let’s keep on correcting and clarifying them when they sling yellow slop. The deck is stacked in our favor because we have the science, facts, history, and stuff like that.

Correcting the propagandists with information from the true experts is like playing whack a mole; but I despise how they still exercise so much control over their discussion boards.

My blood started to boil when I read Dr. Ehrenfeld’s slop (she should stick to terrorism and stop trying to conflate terrorism with medical cannabis…medical herb is grown in the U.S., silly
Rachel, and reduces dependence on cartels)

So, I was stoked you were able to present so much credible information. Let It Grow.

Onward.

Hell yeah. Shes a twit. Get her!

Great job as always Bruce! The best way to fight prohibition is to get one state to vote on it, pass it and watch the dominos fall. This is our opportunity to put our money where our mouth is. Join us in California by donating or volunteering for the California Cannabis Initiative who is working hard at bringing us the Tax, Regulate, and Control Cannabis Act of 2010 to the ballot box. Lets end this needless war that has drained our local, state and federal treasuries and has destroyed more families and lives than any drug itself could have ever done.

Rachel Ehrenfeld is a clown.

Her usual field is anti-Muslim incitement. (Take a look at the videoclip in From Epistemic to Bureaucratic Islamophobia.)

Because current US ME policy spooks the Israel Lobby so much, Zionist attack dogs are desperately trying to undermine Obama by any means possible.

20 Jamaste { 08.19.09 at 7:10 am }

Great work as always Bruce. Thanks. I love me some MPP in the media!

21 Elisa { 08.19.09 at 9:33 am }

Bravo! Bravo! Bravo Bruce! Awesome response! To have gotten so much pertinent info into such a small space…I bow to you. I wrote a response to the article also ( I was the 175th response), but I wasn’t nearly as civil…ending it with ” You should be fired”.
I still think she should be forced post a retraction. The blatantly bogus info she reported made me want to tie her to a chair, tape her eyes open and force her to read ( aloud) the mountains of research that’s been done (perhaps start her off with the Shafer report?)

22 DJP { 08.19.09 at 11:58 am }

Excellent response article Bruce and you have to be applauded for getting your response on to the Forbes site.

If I may give one piece of constructive criticism. You should have a stock photo of yourself in a suit with a professional background. It doesn’t help the cause when the representative looks like he’s typing the response from his bedroom in sandals, perhaps even stoned at that.

23 Dog { 08.21.09 at 3:30 pm }

Excellent response and all that needed to be said. God, was that lady uptight or what? If thats what a Conservative is, I’d rather be dead…

24 Dpearce { 08.21.09 at 6:28 pm }

Well done Sir …
