A Cancer Survivor
Last November, I mentioned here that I’d undergone treatment for prostate cancer – implantation of 85 tiny, radioactive seeds designed to zap the tumor before it zaps me. I’m happy to report that, six months later, it seems to have worked, according to the latest lab tests. Though the risk of recurrence never goes away entirely, I’m as close as one can be to being an official cancer survivor.
Endless thanks to all who sent kind thoughts. And since someone is bound to ask: No, I didn’t ever need medical marijuana. My treatment was happily quite low-impact: no chemo, no nausea, no hair loss, etc. I almost feel like I should refer to it as Cancer Lite, it was so comparatively easy.
But the point I made last November still remains. If I had needed medical marijuana, that decision should have been between me and my doctor. Cops and politicians have no place in medical treatment decisions.

hi bruce, im glad to here that u r ok, i hope u r doin better.
Congrats!
well i know this Shouldn’t be in here but, i need to get this out.
hi guys, well the news ive been seening goin around, is that there useing marijuana to treat the “Swine FLU” aka H1N1 Flu”
No joke they are using marijuana to treat swine flu, now it doesnt cure it but it reduces the symptoms to a common cold, and not death.. so it reverses the effects and reduces the serverity of the flu….

Just to be clear, a company hoping to market a cannabis lozenge believes it may be helpful for H1N1 flu. But it hasn’t been proven to work. And they argue (also unproven) that smoking marijuana wouldn’t be helpful.
o ok, just wantd to get it out wasn;t sure tho if it does… thanks bruce nd congrats i hope ur doin better.
“Cops and politicians have no place in medical treatment decisions,” well put Bruce! So how do we change the marijuana laws without them? I guess that’s asking to much but this is a point to seriously take into consideration in each State. The law should read, “Between a doctor and patient,” or patients will be doomed to be caught up in a system that allows their lives to expire, political process is today’s snail mail equal in proficiency, getting things done for the patients speedy and correctly without timely set backs from opponents who’s agenda reflects non-medical interest. Here in is the exact reason for exempting Cops and Politicians. A lot more people will dye needlessly now and in the future till legalization is complete.
GOOD JOB BRUCE, YOUR A NATURAL
I never knew of your ordeal but I am happy about your prognosis.
Cops have no business making the law. Their job is enforcement. The more power or influence they have in making the law, the more that we become a police state. I have a real problem with their lobbyists.
I am finally recovering from H1N1, and I did smoke some high quality marijuana at different points during the illness. I don’t believe that it was much different that any other flu I’ve had. I certainly don’t think I would have died if I did not have marijuana. During the onset the joints in my legs ached severely, and the marijuana certainly helped alleviate that pain. Once it moved into a more respiratory/sinus phase I basically slept for 3 days straight and did not smoke marijuana further. I was too tired and cold to get out of bed to even try.
I am finally feeling better, and I am glad to hear that you are as well, Bruce. I’ve heard that a similar cancer treatment involving the injection of THC has been shown to be effective in mice. It’s unfortunate that this choice was not made available to you. But I’m glad to hear that the treatment you were given did in fact work. Thanks for all your efforts!
Great to hear you’re doing better, I had no idea you’d developed cancer. Thank you for everything you’ve done for our cause Bruce.
Congrats, Bruce! Cheers to good health!
I also had no idea- I’m really glad for you and yours. Take care of yourself Bruce, we need you.
Good to hear everything is looking alright Bruce, best wishes.
Hello,
I to am glad to hear of your positive outcome. My father had the exact process a couple of years ago. I have blood tests annually and so far so good at age 53. For 37 years I have used cannabis every day all day as needed and my Doctor can’t explain my youthful test results as to blood work and blood pressure. He remarks it’s like an athlete’s test results not a 53 yr. old man. I drink spring water from glass bottles, eat organic veges and fruit, grains and nuts. I don’t smoke cigarettes and shy away from lots of sugar. And I use more cannabis daily than most people do. In my state of Calif. I am a medical user and I seriously believe cannabis has help in preventing a lot of things. I have not even had a cold or flu for decades. And all of this cannabis use has not rotted my mind. I have a masters in Mechanical Engineering, I am the CEO of my own company and I own many U.S. Patents. Most ideas obviously have come while I had cannabis in my system. So there goes the old “it will rot your brain” BS. Some of the brightest people I know use cannabis daily and are still “real” Rocket Fuel Scientists. And that’s no Joke! So cannabis was put here so humans can live a good life naturally and pain and stress free. God knew it would not be easy, being a human being. This herb was designed with us in mind. Animals also benefit from it’s healing and anti-aging properties.
bruce what great news! god be with you brother and thanks for the excellent work you do!
Bruce,
Glad to hear good health news from anyone. I hope your recovery is copmplete. There’s so much negative health news around. Remarkably, bad health news is generally not associated with cannabis.
Oddly, our local state’s attorney claims that she’s interested in cannabis, because it’s “a public health issue.” That’s true to a certain extent, I suppose, although instead of helping convicting citizens who use cannabis, she should be doing more to make sure people can experience the healthful benefits of cannabis, whether as a medicine or a healthy alternative to far more injurious, nay even poisonous products.
Hey Bruce! Glad to hear your ok. I’m glad it wasn’t so serious that you needed further medicines ,including cannibis.
Any way, cheers to your health!
I had no idea…wow….I’m so happy you’re okay…M.P.P without Bruce Mirken would be like a day without sunshine.
Happy Days are here again. I have prayed for you and am very glad to hear you are doing well. Hooray!!
Glad to hear your doing better Bruce! And thanks for all your hard work!
So true Bruce! First, congrats on your recovery! I’ve lost family to cancer and it is devastating. As to politicians and police playing “doctor:” Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty (a lawyer) opined that there are “sufficient treatments to treat disease at present.” This from a man with national political aspirations that does everything to toe the party line. Medical decisions and a host of other issues that politicians are not experts on are being made recklessly. Be sure to use your vote wisely in every election if your elected officials are not representing you fairly.
Great News Bruce! I didnt know of your condition until now, but I’m glad treatment worked for you and luckily without having to go as far as chemo.
Glad to hear the good news!
